    BPX042: Hard Wares

Being the launch year of a new generation of consoles it's highly likely that many of us will find ourselves paying out for a new console next. Likewise it also means it's a good time to catch up on what is already available as prices begin to drop. As if that wasn't enough, we're likely to see the next line of GPU's for PC appear and whilst they will be too early to deliver a full generation of maxed out settings gaming they will be the first true next-gen GPU's pushing gaming visuals beyond those seen in the new consoles.

You can vote for multiple options in the poll:
Which machines will you buy in 2020?

What are your gaming plans for the next year?

My main aim will be to hopefully build a retro den up the loft. I've got every system that I wish to keep now, and tried near enough all the ones that I didn't want too. I need them all set out nice now to be usable

Planning on increasing the amount of DS consoles i have to keep as backups as finding new ones that are not fakes is getting harder all the time planning on getting a couple DS lites and a couple of DSi LL machines.

I can't see me buying anything for the foreseeable future unless my kids campaign for their own Switch. I just don't have the gaming time to justify getting another system.

The only systems I will be getting next year are...

          XBOX Series X For launch
          PS5

I'm aiming keeping my powder dry until I know a bit more about the Series X and PS5.

I really love the idea of getting a PS5 or Series X, but the fact of the matter is that I've barely gamed over the last few months. Gonna be hard to justify to myself...

I really like the idea of getting an Analogue Pocket though.

I'm not saying I'm not going to buy one, just that it's too early to say. I'm trying to be sensible.

I originally said "none" but changed that to "retro console" and "retro handheld" as I'd like to replace my dead 360 (so many games not on BC! ).

I'm interested in getting a 3DS XL and I like the design of it and the DS seems so small now!

Also, after going to a retro show, I'm lusting after either a backlit Game Boy or one of those new Analog ones.

Also, after discovering I can't transfer the PSP version of The Gradius Collection to my Vita, I'm really tempted to pick up a PSP.
I just love those little disc carts!

On a new console release day. Atticus's purse will start to glow and rise into the air like an unlocked instrument on Link's Awakening, and then proceed to spin round arl ower showering the place with coins.

The Analogue Pocket is top of my list for 2020. I’d quite like a FPGA MSX, Mega 65 and new Xbox. I’ll probably take a wait and see stance with PS5 and Xbox though.

                            PS5, natch.

I really, really like the look of the Analogue Pocket too.

It'll just be PS5 for me next year. I retro'd myself out and still have loads to do on PS3, 3DS and Vita as a result of it. My PC remains good for it for now as well, I'm hoping I can just about drag it out till about 2022/23 then that will become the next new one replacing the entire rig outset.

For next year it'll rest a lot on the backlog again as it seems decent new releases will be slowing down. According to my account I'm 2/5's through the Steam backlog somehow so another big push there too.
