My friend works in one of the stores here in Ireland and was telling me they are going to be rolling out retro gaming in all stores pretty soon. The consoles are going to be chipped American machines because its cheaper than sourcing PAL machines and software.
He was telling me something interesting about EA as well. Six months ago Gamestop would have had a ton of surplus stock for titles like Ty The Tazmanian Tiger and MoH: Rising Sun which they'd have to try to offload to other stores or just discout to bits.
Now EA are buying back any surplus stock from stores. Add the money they spend on premium floorspace and I think you're going to see the publisher dominate retailers even more in the next couple of years.
