GAME PS2 -> USB adapter and Mac, dance mat compatibility

Hi guys... Having just moved from France to Leeds, UK, I began (among other things) a quest to find a Dual Shock -> USB adapter, in order to play emulators and Stepmania on my Mac. As I was browsing one of the numerous local GAME stores, I stumbled across one which they sell (for ?9.99) under the GAME brand. However, the store's employees were unable to answer my questions so I haven't bought it yet. But I figured someone around there might be able to answer them, so...

    I have two questions:
    1) Does this thing work on a Mac? When used in Win2K/XP (with a recent version of DirectX), is a driver required?

    2) Does it work with dance mats? IOW, can it be configured to handle simultaneous press of up+down or left+right?

Sorry, I can't find a picture of it anywhere on the 'Net. It's a basic, no-fluff adapter, with one PS2 in and one USB out. IIRC it's manufactured by Joytech.

While I'm at it, if this adapter sucks, which one would you recommend and where can I buy it? Keep in mind that I can't order from Lik-Sang (for credit card payments, they require that the shipping address be the same as the billing address). Of course, the best-case scenario would be one that I can buy in a shop that's in the Leeds city center, or at least within walking distance of the University of Leeds (anybody from there?).

    Any suggestions?
