I need quick response to this if possible as time is money on this problem as its stock.
I got 2 more Dell Precision 220 workstations from suppliers today. Both are single P3 933 systems. Now, the last batch I had I used spare VRM`s from the dead ones in the batch and made em into dual P3 933`s.
Now, today, I was brave, and dared try a compaq vrm (from a dual 100fsb p2/p3 compaq workstation) in one of these Dells, while it was fitted with Dual P2 400`s, and it worked, and picked up both cpu`s in the bios. So any worries I had about VRM compatibility are now sorted.
Problem is, I tried same VRM with the dual p3 933`s, which are 133fsb, and it won`t boot. Afterwards, the machines boot with either of the P3 933`s in singly, but not as a pair with this VRM.
If I get a higher spec VRM, from a compaq machine of similar P3 setup, will it work? I don`t want to risk spending up to ?20 on a vrm that might do the same thing. Cheers for any help.
