    Delay when turning on PC

It happens now almost every time that when I turn on the PC, there is a slight delay (up to 30 seconds) until the boot sequence is started.
Basically I just press the power button, something inside starts to hum and after a little wait (I think) the CPU fan is powered up and the boot squence begins. (no need to press the power button again)

My PC is around five years old and I?m running Win98.
(Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-6BXC - bios updated, CPU is PIII 650Mhz with Intel fan)
My monitor and PC need to be turned on individually.

This problem just started to occur two months ago, in the past few weeks it got more frequently.
For some time the problem only occured when I turned the PC on after it hasn?t been used for a longer period.
As already mentioned above, this changed and it happens now every time I turn on the PC.

The delay is not really bothering me, but I would definitely like to prevent my PC from not powering up at all.
Working...
