I have recently purchased (and I'm in the process of returning) an M-audio Audiophile USB. It worked quite well but liked crashing my Powerbook (which has NEVER happened before). I looking for an external soundcard which works seamlessly with my powerbook and I'm quite tempted by Russ Andrews simple solution. I'm running quite a high spec system and would ideally like to intergrate my nordorst Heimdahl interconnects, making RCA outputs nessessary.
On another note, I produce quite a lot of music and it frustrates me that the midi samples on my Clavinova CLP170 are far superior to those on all the music making programs I have. But when connected, either through Midi or USB, it is solely an input device, with all of the samples coming from the program. Is there any way I can change this without having to record from a line out (which always sounds a bit crackly and harsh)?
