fixing the touch screen calibration on a ds

I've got a DS and the touch screen calibration is slightly off. no amount of recalibrating seems to sort it out. I tried the thing where you try and push down the bottom screen and use a toothbrush to clean the dust out but to no avail. I'm not even convinced this works.

So now I've ordered the screwdriver off ebay and I'm going to open it up to see what i can see.

has anyone got any advice? is it even worth attempting? has anyone managed to fix their ds?
