    Yamaha repairs

Has anyone ever needed to get any bit of Yamaha equipment fixed out of warranty?

My YSP-900 has gone potty and now blows the fuse in the plug... when I switch it off. Yeah, simple, don't switch it off eh. But I'd rather be able to, so I want to get it fixed I have actually bought a replacement for it already so I'll be flogging it on when it's fixed but that's by the by.

So, it being out of warrant, I have had to call up service centre. These basically seem to be third parties? I spoke to one in Leicester, some 30 miles away, as that's my closest. The woman (she sounded elderly) kept calling me dear, and said ?28 for them to pick it up. ?28 for them to have a look at the problem, and then whatever on top. If I didn't want to want to go ahead then it's still the two lots of ?28 anyway! Plus I guess another ?28 to get the thing back home.

I am pretty shocked that Yamaha can't be bothered to look after their customers themselves after the warranty has expired. Their loss - the replacement system is a Denon!

Anyone else have experience of getting stuff fixed by Yamaha's service centres?
