Stuttering videos (in games) and Joypad woes...

    'Noon all,

Two issues for the gifted to advise upon today from me

Firstly, I've had this issue with videos in games stuttering. It's like the sound usualy plays fine with full speed but the video stutters every few frames and then falls behind the audio. Both pause, video catches up and plays properly for a split second, then starts to stutter again. PRinse and repeat to annoyance.

Strange thing is it's only in games - Max Payne 2's little intro and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time are the main offenders that spring to mind but other games like Need for Speed Underground work fine. I've tried updating my codecs (well, I'm trying again as I type) and my nVidia drivers (GeForce4 Ti4400, AthlonXP 2000+, 512 RAM if stats are important but I shouldn't think I have any issues to be worried about there). What else can I try? It's not a huge issue but I'm one of those people who wants everything to work perfectly

On another matter, Prince of Persia won't recognise my gamepad. I have a DualShock converter from PlayAsia (blue 2 port version) which works like a dream for everything else such as FFXI and Pro Evo 3. I go to the controls setting part of option, click on gamepad but when I try to assign buttons to functions, the game doesn't want to know. Am I missing something here?

Any input would be muchos appreciatos. Cheersio!

    Chief

UPDATE: I got rid of the stuttering with some alternative nVidia patches, but now the video in Pro Evo 3 doesn't work at all "semi victory", as tomo-chan would say
