I discovered this gem over the weekend, i always wanted to check it out from hearing all the positive feedback and it doesn't dissapoint.
This has to be one of the best games ive played in a long time. The game is total genius. you live in a post-apocalyptic world and your one of a few survivors of the war that spent his entire life living in a vault, one day the head honcho tells you to go out to the wasteland and find a waterchip so the vault can replenish its water supply.
Fallout is an rpg, but its not a traditional rpg. the thing with fallout is that you can do anything you want, you can do certain quests in any order. you can be total cock to people, every option is available to you. One time i ran out of money so i went back to an earlier town and slaughtered everyone there and stole everything. I made a fortune!
Considering its age, the game has aged incredibly well sure the graphics are rubbish compared to todays standards, but thats beside the point. The open-ended nature of the game impresses me a great deal and made me a total addict over the weekend. It also drools alot of nolstalgia, the fmv opens with a beautiful 1950s song with a shot of a 1950s tv showing clips of the brotherhood killing some punk. BEAUTIFUL.
Fallout does have its minor nigles though one which totally pissed me off is that if your in a narrow corridor with about 3 people they can block you out of the way so you cant get past them and it forces you to quit the game.
I picked up the collection pack today, i really am that impressed with it. screw new games!!! I wish i gave it a chance before i had my pc upgraded :/
anyways 8/10
very impressive for a game that was released in 1997
