    Some crackers this year.

    Homecoming
was a cracking Spider-Man film with a cracking villain too. I still wish it was detached from the Marvel Universe as the Tony Stark stuff bogs it down a bit for me. Really great fun though.

Dunkirk was a brilliant war film. One of Nolan's best imo. And that tick-tock tension in the soundtrack was genius.

2049 was simply a phenomenal sequel to one of the top science fiction films of all time. Shame it was a bit of a box office failure as I can't imagine a better sequel. Some of the themes and ideas were brill. I feel like watching it now.

It. I'm a huge Stephen King fan and similar to what I said above I can't imagine a better adaptation of one of his finest books. Someone at work said 'oh, it was rubbish, wasn't even that scary'. That misses the point. It's about childhood and friendships and the film captures that so well. Parts 1 and 2 are both phenomenal imo. The right film maker definitely got to make them.

Blade Runner 2049 is superb, a lot better than I expected it to be.
It was great too. The sequel is quite flat by comparison. The cast of It really sold their relationships and it thankfully didn’t use that ending.

I didn't vote for Dunkirk but I have a liking for it. It's the closest in recent years for me that has shown Nolan at his best, freed of all the bad editing and writing of his sci-fi guff. He needs to move away from the genre and Dunkirk highlights why
