    Hollywood Hot Wheels: Round 17

    WELCOME TO:

    HOLLYWOOD HOT WHEELS: ROUND 17

We continue going through the history of the industries most recognisable vehicles covering all manners of iconic designs from film, tv and gaming, their history and what you think of them.

Each round will see three vehicles lined up for the showcase. Unlike the voting conducted in the other threads, here things are more cutthroat.

You each can only vote for a single design in each round, casting the other two to the scrapheap of Hollywood history.
Make your choice then tell us why you like or don't like each vehicle and why you voted for the one you did.

    VEHICLE 49 -Ford Explorer

The vehicle ridden in by the visitors to Jurassic Park became imprinted in viewers minds as soon as the looming T-Rex stepped out between two of them. With its distinctive colour scheme, the vehicles are depicted as on-rails though in real life they were driven by out of sight drivers. The ease of purchasing a Ford Explorer has resulted in many detailed replicas though the studio still owns the working originals and has on occasion lent them out to museums.

A ride for which you would Spare no Expense?

    VEHICLE 50 -Mini Cooper S 1275

Pulling off a heist in Italy and need a small, compact and nippy getaway car - use three! These 1967 cars were given mock plates to pass them off as 1969 models to coincide with when the film would release. In total 31 Mini's were used to make the film with all believed to be destroyed during of after filming.

Is this the choice of the three that blows your bloody doors off?

VEHICLE 51 -1947 Ford Super Convertible

When Daniel finally earns it, the Karate Kid is allowed to drive this 40's convertible. Whilst the cars largely sit in Miyagi's collection during the films they are well known for being part of Daniel's training with this being the key car. Cobra Kai brought all but one of the cars back using replicas - with one exception. The Ford Super Convertible in the successful sequel series is the same as in the original films. Ralph Macchio offered to buy the car during making of the second film so that it wouldn't be lost or scrapped, the studio ignored his request and then on the films release day it appeared as a gift outside his home with the actor bringing it to the show.

Wax on or Wax off to this one?

All three are ultimately fairly 'normal' cars but if you told me to pick one to own it would far and away be the Explorer so it made this an easy one to vote for

Has to be the Mini Cooper, the Italian job wouldn't be the film it is without these iconic cars.

I always preferred the other type of SUV in Jurassic Park.

The Karate Kid car ain't my thing.

There's another photo op for the JP car, which is cool, but I walked past it alone at night and it's actually quite unnerving!

It's going to be an easy win for the Mini in this round.
It's such a cool car and a real innovation.
This sporty version was perfect for The Italian Job, hiding all three in the back of a coach.

Bonus marks to the AutoTrader offices for this amazing display!
