Even if "assembled in the US" means final assembly, the price hike to accomodate US salaries and other regulations would probably be more than those tariffs.

To maintain Apples profit margins they would have to sell the latest iPhones for 10,000 plus, as it would cost 4000 just to manufacture in the US, which they can’t, at all, because they don’t have the raw materials, man power, expertise, factories or literally EVERYTHING needed for this kind of operation.

Yep, they either get rinsed on set up, rinsed on training, rinsed on importing parts or China just applies the same tariff negating the competition and Apple and its consumers bears a 25% price increase. There remains no thinking behind these tariffs

The end goal is admirable. More work for Americans. More money for America. Maybe just don't try to do it overnight while pissing everyone off.

You're not thinking outside the box. Stop thinking about current US salaries and think about the new salaries of 25c /hour. Now iPhones can be made for $100! Unfortunately this is about 20% of the new annual average salary, but if we add more tariff then... Etc.

Yeah, but why try bringing in low-paying manufacturing jobs America and the rest of developed countries offloaded to poorer ones, and not strenghten the service economy the States have been building up for the past 40 or so years?
So that future masses are uneducated and will follow whatever billionaires say? Is it a bet they can do a real-life Idiocracy in less than 10 years?
