The premiere of “Star Trek: Picard” helped drive CBS All Access to hit record numbers of new subscriber sign-ups in January 2020. Picard’s premiere week was the second-best signup week ever for CBS All Access, nearly matching the number of sign-ups for the service on the week of the 2019 Super Bowl. The premiere of […]
The first episode of Star Trek: Picard has heled CBS All Access break its own records ensuring the shows continuation and likely the greenlight on a lot more ST

The show is doing a great job of showing the aftermath of a (kind of) stable quadrant (dominion war aside) with multiple advanced societies, to a HUGE dynamic shift in the power balance and the decimation of one of those powers.
Plus we’re seeing what happens to the actual people of star trek in this aftermath, rather than just the military side of starfleet etc.
Its a real interesting perspective on this show’s universe.Last edited by fishbowlhead; 24-02-2020, 12:03.

in a love/hate relationship with Picard, it's basically today's gritty sci-fi seasonal show in a Trek coat, gone are the lofty ideals and post scarcity/xenophobic humanity exploring messed up cultures and solving the space danger of the week, in comes gore and stabbings every episode while Picard does some twee stuff and an occasional 'remember this' pops up, which is essentially what i'm still around for as the story takes great leaps of logic (over simple stuff like not seeing a star collapsing, Picard suddenly being best mates with Data or Picard not being alright going on a suicide mission with his old trusted colleagues but is quite happy to rope in strangers) to force the plot along, and is so 1 dimensional you can see the twists coming a mile off.
Pretty easy to see this great secret will be whatever ancient starfolk got up to was making advance synth's which became the borg, feels like they played mass effect, so i'm expecting space kid and 3 colour paths to show up in the last episode.
And i could really do without the close up eye gore porn as well, just so cheap to use that a story crutch to explain Killer Seven

No feeling that final episode.
Felt like a cop-out putting Picard into that golem. Watching him give his final moments of life to save the sinths was moving until they showed that. You've got everyone crying and getting emotional because he's gone and then 5 minutes later he's chilling on the ship with them! Data's scene felt off as well, I don't think it was needed.
Also, no way would the Tal Shiar just walk away given everything we've been shown about them. They are far too commited to the cause.
It was a poor end to a good season imo.

I enjoyed it but the last two eps were really packed and skimmed over a bunch of stuff as a result, losing some sense and definitely some impact. Too much story in what was, up to that point, a slow building series. So the end had quite a few “wait a minute, but...” moments.
Still, I really enjoyed the series overall.

Brent Spiner’s days as Data in the “Star Trek” franchise are over. Spiner played the role over several TV series and movies, becoming one of the most beloved characters of the franchise. Talking to TV Guide in the wake of his brief appearance in “Star Trek: Picard,” Spiner acknowledges the criticism he received for his […]
Brent Spiner says he agreed to appear in Picard because the death of Data in Star Trek: Nemesis went down so poorly with fans. With that brief reprisal complete he believes that he should never play the character again.
