It's extraordinary and almost obscene, this level of almost willful national stupidity. Corruption and cronyism in the tens of billions, chronic lies, public sector ground down, incompetence counted in tens of thousands of lives? Nope. All fine. It's like with the psychology of people who have been conned and refuse to admit it and just dig deeper in order to hide their embarrassment. The whole situation reminds me of the narrator in Patrick Keiller's 'Robinson in Space', who said "by this point it seemed that there was nothing a Tory government could do that would result in it getting voted out."
