    GAME.

Due to recent Starlink offers I ran in tonight to see if they had the coop pack for the Switch.

    "The what?"

Blank expressions. I asked them again.

"What, like, is it an accessory or something?"

I had to explain to them what it was, and even then, they still didn't know what it was; replying in a manner as if to challenge me about the existence of such a thing. I honestly had to tell them "they're on Amazon, they do exist" before they'd actually look up whether they had one, and in the end, said they had to assume they didn't stock them (but with a backhanded follow-up of "... and we stock the entire Starlink range").

    Specialist games retailer.

Game seem to only employ people who have never seen or played a video game.
      I avoid the place now.

Dying and then waiting a minute or so to start exactly where you just were.

A basic run of the mill soldier being more difficult to kill than a 60 foot beast.

I've been playing Witcher 3 by the way.

            State of Decay 2:

"speak to Liz to find out more about the theft"

*speaks to liz, now my bloke has a personal mission to find the thief*

I look at my stats. My health will not go above half. I don't know why. I can take meds and use bandages but it won't move. I'm also exhausted. I know, I'll switch to anothe character so he can get some rest.

WARNING: Switching character will abandon your mission. WTAF!?

Same thing when returning with supplies. Only way to get supplies into the supply store is to take the character to the supply store and move them in there. So, if you have a personal mission on the go and you return with a companion who has bagged a load of loot; loot that could boost the moral of the community you have to ABANDON YOUR MISSION just to put a tin of beans into the kitchen cupboard essentially.

Irk of mine but this is a personal preference, the simplification of fighting games, games with simple command moves, super moves and special moves.

Played this Beta of a game Trajes Fatais and it looks decent but simplified inputs are not my cup of tea, feel like while they reduce the entry barrier they also reduce the skill ceiling.

Dragon ball fighter Z while its not simplified to that degree and characters are different I still felt like when you take each character by themselves i felt a lot more deja vu between them as they had similar ways of doing stuff

I can see what you mean. I've always been in two minds though about "execution" in fighters. I mean, I love Gen in SFIV, I've put in the hours practicing FADCs and parrying Super Arts in SFIII, but I've always wondered whether it's really a good thing when fighters have complex execution. Certainly there are some people out there who love that stuff, but I wonder...

I've introduced a lot of people to fighting games over the years, and it's interesting. In my experience, they tend to like a fighting game on a superficial level, and want to improve, but then the "next rung" up the ladder is really off-putting. It requires dedication and practice, and a lot of encouragement - and the few people I've brought far enough to play the "mind games" in stuff like Street Fighter, i.e. the game-beneath-the-game that all of us fighting fans love so much, have really enjoyed it once they got there.

This then poses the question - is a truly better-designed game one that has fewer barriers between picking it up and reaching that level, or one that has more? I'm actually inclined to think the former.

Despite that, this is in isolation from my own experience. For example, I really disliked some of the simplifications that SFIV made to Street Fighter's execution. I think I swing like a pendulum on this one.

For me Killer Instinct is the perfect balance it has a auto mode for beginners if needed, but the execution is not that high its really all about the mind games and the combos work in as part of that and knowing what the opponent will do, but each character feels vastly different.

Problem is you get games like Blazblue where some combos have frankly insane timing...talking several frames and the combo can fall apart several times during it if not timed right.

I played the game Blade Strangers where it was very simple commands and seems the exact opposite of Blazblue, trouble is I find a certain level of execution fun.

Always online. If you pay for a game, and it has single player, it should work without internet connection full stop.

Diablo 3 was my biggest Gripe, the way it works i believe is some placements of enemies is done server side which meant even in single player there could be lag

Oh should point out Warframe, while always online if you play solo mode....you can actually...shock horror pause the game

How so much of the gaming press is just people rephrasing press-releases.

I was looking at previews for Left Alive, and every site last posted something around September. Their articles are all the same! They just report the same facts in the same order.

I don’t blame them as such; they have to do what works for them in terms of traffic. Just part of me wishes more sites would hold off posting something unless that had something unique to say, like an exclusive or something.

Does anyone else have problems with the Xbox website?

I tried to get the Games with Gold before the month ends via my phone and after jumping through various hoops, it said "no device is associated with your account".

I'm trying to do it via the website, let's see what happens!

Open page, asks me to log in, so I did.
Page is telling me I'm not logged in.
Scroll down to "Join Xbox Gold".
                          I've already subscribed to Gold.
Scroll down to "Get Free Games"
Page says "join Gold" despite being subbed and it now showing I'm logged in.
Click on "Celeste" and it opens a new page for the game.
It says "buy" for a while
                          It should be free.
eventually changes to "install to device" or "buy to own"
I thought you owned it if you got it via Gold?
Click on "Install to my Device"
"It looks like you don’t have any applicable device(s) linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account."
                          Click "get more information"
                          Get generic Microsoft help page.

So basically, to get my games, I'm going to have to log in on my Xbox One and get them.

In contrast, on the PS4, I went to the mobile store, clicked PS+, clicked on each game listed, added to basket, clicked continued shopping then repeated until I had them all, went to basket and bought them. Done.
It would be easier if you could tick all the games and send them to the basket in one go, but at least it worked via my phone!

We've been able to do that on the 360/PS3 as well - buy a game on the website and download it to the console - so maybe your XBO has somehow become unlinked from the account?

For example, my PS3 back home used to be able to do that but somehow it got deactivated and couldn't do the remote downloading you speak of. Worse still, my newer PS3 couldn't do it even though I activated it for game downloads. Both work completely fine otherwise(as in, they can download/play any games bought on that same).

My PS4 works no problem, probably because there's only one PS4 linked to my account!

Maybe there's an option to deactivate and reactive the XBO...

I think this must be the case, but I've been logged in within the last week (Sunday), so I'm unsure why it now things I don't own any devices.

It just would be nice for you to log in and it change to "Ah welcome back! Here are your free games. Maybe I could interest you in these games or the Games Pass. No? OK, have a lovely day playing the games that are now downloading to your console."

If my Xbox One ever doesn't get shut down properly then it starts up believing my TV can't do HDR. I'm not really sure how to solve it; I just hard cycle it N times, change the cables around etc. until it starts working. Wish it a) didn't do it or b) I knew the exact steps needed to rectify it (we've had some minor power outages recently it seems).
