It’s a long time since I first saw Zu it’ll probably feel like watching a new film.

        A New Hope (1)
        Empire (1)
        Jedi (1)
        Force Awakens (1/2)
        Last Jedi (1)

          Nice gets above.

With Star Wars honestly I've gotten to a point where I kind of feel like there are only two genuinely really good films. Jedi is pretty bobbins to be honest.

I enjoyed watching the new films at the cinema to varying degrees but I have no real desire to rewatch them.

What I would really like to do though is get 4K77 downloaded - the latest and best 'despecialised' version of the first film - and watch that again.

Yup. At least Rian Johnson tried to do something different.

4K77 is an incredible piece of work considering it’s homemade. There’s new version on the way too using the Disney+ stream and UHD disc for assets where it is useful.

Interesting, I didn’t know that, thanks. My only issue is that my computer is less than capable and I’m not sure if it will be able to play it back smoothly on my TV. I’ll just have to give it a go and see though.

I’ve used VLC on my Xbox to play 4K77 and 4K83. Older versions on VLC did struggle a bit from USB drive but once I put it on an external 2.5” HDD it’s been ok. Got the UHDs coming from Canada now.

Fun article about old online retailers like Play, Blackstar and Movietyme.

The early 2000s saw etailers such as DVD Street, Play and Movietyme become top choices for movie lovers - and we've been digging into their stories.

Wow, I ordered a ton from Blackstar back in the day.

Movietyme was awesome. I wish that was still around. I used to buy this delicious American popcorn from there with my US imports, Orville Redenbacher's Pour-Over Cheddar. It came with a cheesy oil you poured on after cooking it, and it was bloody delicious.

Sadly that popcorn flavour is no longer made

Probably old news to most on here as this came out a while back, but I'm very excited about this - my first ever 4K Blu and one of my favourite films.

I'm planning to make it the first film I watch on my new setup - the player (Panasonic UB820) turned up today, and the TV (Panasonic GZ950) arrives next week

That is a great remaster. It was scanned at 8k and the UHD looks sensational. The HDR treatment adds a lot to the presentation. The effects work still looks amazing too. The slit scan sequence has never looked better.
