Very tough to choose an ultimate fave. So much fun to be had this year. The standouts are obvious but I have to sing the praises of a forgotten gem: After Hours. It's got so many things I love in a film: it happens over a single night, it's in a fab location: Soho, NY, it's a Martin Scorsese film, it has that 'things are different at night' factor, punk legends Bad Brains are on the soundtrack ... and Rosanna Arquette!!

I wish one of these boutique publishers would finally release it on blu-ray. I've been desperate for a viewing for years and the only place I can see it is on Amazon Prime.

Some awesome films in that list.

The Goonies is number 1 though!!

Yeah, I think I'd have to give it to The Goonies as well. A few there I love and a few more on the edge of almost being ticked but the classics I went for are: Day of the Dead (one of my most-watched movies and easily my favourite movie soundtrack), Back To The Future, The Goonies, Commando and The Breakfast Club.

I watched it quite a few times growing up, as it was on late night BBC quite often. It's one of those films that never feels stale, as you notice new things and it's such an entertaining journey through someone's crazy night in New York. The whole production is brilliant, with the story flowing perfectly.

I remember importing the DVD from America. It ended up getting released in the UK as part of a compilation. Such a great film deserves more respect.

I could have chosen Into the Night(another unsung gem starring Jeff Goldblum), The Goonies, Brazil or Back to the Future, but After Hours is my favourite these days.

Anyway, what a year for classic movies. I've watched a lot of them a crazy amount of times over the years -- and I'll always go back to them.

This poster really spooked me as a kid. It's still pretty scary.

The sequel and remake are pretty poor imo.

I remember seeing the picture of Amy/Amanda Bearse with huge fangs in the Sun Newspaper and knew I had to see it (luckily enough my local cinema had no issues with letting kids in to watch whatever they liked LOL)

Such a brilliant modern take on a classic story. Amazing effects and also a stunning music score as well

I also liked the sequel and had a massive crush on Julie Carmen in that film too

So many ace films, BTTF for me but Fletch deserves a mention as well as Jewel for the great Billy Ocean song, still got on 12".

I've always had a soft spot for Fletch. It's not an hilarious comedy, but has quite a few funny, memorable moments. I've watched it loads of times over the years -- it's a great display of how likeable and talented Chevy Chase was. The soundtrack is excellent if you appreciate 80s synth music.
