It's only really known in cessation and specialists circles at the moment as it has not spread yet. Fortunately it probably won't be too prolific due to the main ingredient being POM (script only) in most places the big worry is that it becomes the next methamphetamine I didn't mean to rag on Charlie (still don't) but saying that beer is on a par with some of this stuff is laughable I'll include a link so people know what I'm talking about but it's pretty NSFW

^Wow, mate, I work at a hospital and see numerous folk lose their legs to heroin addiction, that stuff sounds especially horrible (and I bet the withdrawal on that thing is the *worst*).

Never heard of it before, think I'll stick to my weed and beer.

I saw that krocodil mentioned online ealier this year, it seems completely messed up. I hope meth never takes off in the UK, too. Most hard drugs are the worst, but depending on the individual, any drug (including alcohol) can screw their life up. People react differently to different chemicals.

This was what gave my place the ****s just before I left

GRAPHIC IMAGE WARNING: Krokodil originated in Russia but is now reportedly being used in Germany - where several deaths have been blamed on its use - leading to other countries to warn of its dangers.

In the order of ?500 - ?1000. I don't go out often these days but I tend to spend about ?50-?100 quid when I do. Hoping to spend virtually nothing next year. I like drinking but unfortunately my digestive system diagrees so I'm going to have to cut it out.

I'm just going from experience. I know a few people whose lives would be much better without alcohol, people who use alcohol to hide from their fears, to forget about their worries, people who've had affairs or gotten into trouble with the law because of alcohol and a couple of people whose lives are completely ruined because of booze. It's a ****ty drug in my opinion with very few benefits. I don't doubt drugs like heroin and and crack are worse but when you look at the number and range of 'feel good' drugs available, alcohol is up there among the worst.

I'm not saying that alcohol when misused is not awful it's not easy to come off believe me I have seen the success rates (around 4%) but is that not true of any addiction ie the point being addiction no matter what to is not a good thing from cigarettes to KFC to spending money all addiction can be detrimental

The wife and I got through a bottle of bacardi a week last year. This year though it's no-alcohol-in-week and we're doing fine. A bottle will probably last us a month now (we allow ourselves drinks on Firday night, Saturday and Sunday). I rarely go out these days.

Is it really only 4% of alcoholics who manage to stay on the wagon? That's surprisingly small.

Beer has some excellent health benefits. Of course, moderation is the name of the game.

                        Thread resurrection!

I”ve been trying to work out how much I spend on booze and cigarillos as I’m planning on cutting down how many hours I work so need to reduce my expenditure. I’ve estimated it’s about £300.00 a month. That’s a fairly normal amount, right? Also, haven’t had a smoke for a week so that’s a saving already!!

£300 quid on light ales and whiffs?

                          Blimey!

I spend less than that on food as a whole a month.

I can't recall exactly what I spent last year in total but at this point I'd safely wager it was in the region of around £15
Every year alcohol has become less and less appealing over the last ten or so years for me

That would be our household spend per month on food now! I think I spend about $50/month on wine now.
