Could it be the last gaming year ever due to impending Apocalypse?! Probably not. However, if you have a tendency to over spend on games like myself it could seem like one way of dealing with gaming induced debt. In 2011 I managed the small accomplishment of spending marginally less on games than the previous year, though the figure didn't fall by anywhere near what I'd hoped for. In last years opening post I highlighted 2 games I'd picked up and not even played. One of those games still sits on my shelf untouched, now next to it's equally idle sequel. In 2012, I'm hoping to make a proper crack down on spending with my time available to play games likely to drop and other commitments, hopefully this will curb the addiction a little.

2012 will see a vastly reduced gaming spend for me.

No Vita for me and a decent tracking spreadsheets means budgeting will be done properly. If the WiiU sees its release then one or two of those may be purchased BUT on a strict 1 game at a time basis (rather than the clusterf**k I made of things this year).

I'm giving myself a $100 monthly average as my target, which works out as one import per month or three locally bought disc-based games every two months.

Aside from Mass Effect 3 I've no plans to buy anything else next year.

Not to say I won't but honestly I've got a backlog as long as my arm here & I've decided to plough through those first before anything else hits my radar.

Out of interest CTN, why buy the follow up to a game you never even got around to playing? Perhaps it is worth picked up a game only when you want to play it?

It was Yakuza 4, I was working through Yakuza 2 and saw it for about ?8 so it seemed a good idea at the time. As usual though, other games took priority and I still need to finish Yakuza 2. Worryingly, it's not long till Yakuza Dead Souls is out, lol.

Money is tight, and more tight then money is my time. Second year of Drama School is bloody madness!. Already had one public show case and that just about killed me. So, for me I'm focusing on clearing the massive backlog of games from my last gen machines, and games I have for my PS3. So, apart from that 2012 will be mainly the triple A's.... so far that's Bioshock Infinite, Silent Hill: Downpour, Tomb Raider, Mass Effect 3, The Last Guardian if that ever sees the lightt of day, The last of Us, and I REALLY hope Dead Space 3...
