    The Rocketeer 2

Disney Pictures is reportedly developing a reboot of Joe Johnston’s 1991’s period adventure film “The Rocketeer” says Vulture. The 30’s-set original followed a racing pilot (Billy Campbell) who discovers a rocket-pack prototype having been hidden inside his stunt plane by gangsters. Timothy Dalton played the villain, Alan Arkin his confidant/mentor, and Jennifer Connelly the love […]

Yup, the old Disney film from Joe Johnston about a 1930's pilot who finds an experimental jet pack is set to be remade as Disney looks for its next big franchise

Oh no doubt it'll be a dark reboot and feature loads of handsome buff men and skinny women.

I actually like the original for its light hearted tone and Jennifer Connelly when she was still hot.

The Rocketeer is mostly notable because it is proof that Jennifer Conelley had an amazing rack back then (which is somthing anyone who saw her for the first time nowadays would find hard to belive)

Its a pretty charming film throughout but never really goes beyond being mildly entertaining. The effects are a bit dated not too. A remake could actually improve the film providing they keep the same tone as I think it's essential to what the Rocketeer is.

Also get Scarlett Johanson for the female lead, she can pull off the look of the era and she's also the only actress who could match up to Conelley in that cleavage bearing dress she wore in the original.

Given the tone Joe Johnston nailed again in Captain America, it would be criminal not to get him to return and make this version.

The proposed sequel to the 1991 film “The Rocketeer” is reportedly back on track with “Sleight” helmer JD Dillard volunteering to direct. In 2016 came the news that Disney was moving forward with “The Rocketeers,” a sequel to the 1938 Los Angeles-set superhero film based on the comic by Dave Stevens, with Max Winkler and […]

Rocketeer 2 is now said to be back on track but is now said to be aiming to be a Disney+ movie rather than a theatrical one

                Boooooooo

That being said, I'm not a fan of this trend of "25 years later sequels". Have any of them turned out particularly good? I wasn't even that big a fan of Blade Runner even though I thought it was visually gorgeous.
