I've only played 5 new games this year the older I get the more fussy i become .

I have to laugh at edges top ten number 2 especially spelunky it couldn't be a more horrible mess than if some fat bird just rolled up to my house and did a massive **** all over my tv .

Despite it being in my list I agree somewhat with rmoxon, Dishonored isn't quite GOTY material and its inclusion is more a reflection of how weak this year has been. It was easily the catagory I struggled most with whilst disappointments were easy to remember.

Next year does look amazeballs though. Deadly Premonition for the first 12/10 scoring game!

Journey was so far ahead of everything else this year for me, what an experience. Watching kids play through the game for the first time is maybe even better, wonderful.

Far Cry 3 took a little getting used to and some parts are really untidy but as a whole it's wonderful.

The Unfinished Swan was really enjoyable and it was far more game like than I was expecting. There was a similar sense of enjoyment while playing it that I found in Journey but it didn'd quite match it.

Biggest Disappointments

• Forza Horizon
• Kickstarter

I'm only including one and it's because I'm such a fan of the series. It still has that wonderful "just complicated enough" Forza handling which means you can throw cars around at 200 mph without having to worry about real physics like you would in a proper simulation.

It lost far more than it gained. Truly terrible free roaming AI which allows AI drivers to drive into barriers without seeing them and they just keep accelerating as they're oblivious to what is happening.

Purely average commercial presentation , characters and music. I know Microsoft has moved on from their older market of "proper" games to sell to the kids but this is X-Factor levels of blandness all over it.

As mentioned, the physics are still in that lovely safe but not too safe area and it works well here. I wouldn't be so disappointed if I didn't really the better games in the series.

Not disappointed in Kickstarter itself as it can be really useful but I'm really not a fan of people like Peter Molyneux using the service to fund projects.

While on the subject of Kickstarter, why isn't there a GIF from 2:30 to 2:33 in this video yet?



Looking Forward To Most

• Two Souls
• Metal Gear Solid 5

The Last of Us, now that all of Sony's major seem to have split into a two studio system this will be the first for Naughty Dog's second studio so it'll be interesting to see what they're able to produce. It sounds amazing so far and it's by Naughty Dog so that's why it's the top of the list for me.

I'm a big David Cage fan, even with all the issues that every one of his games has had they've all managed to be fantastic to play for me.

Not even sure if Metal Gear Solid 5 will be out this year but MGS4 is still one of the best games of this generation for me so this goes in by default.
