Nier looks interesting, is it pick up and play or learn a bazillion moves type thing?

Try to keep in mind with the recommendations that my idea of a fun game is arcadey quick fix, though I do like FPS. RPG's, games where you constantly need to equip and upgrade etc just don't even begin to appeal to me!

Nier is the best story game this gen imo. The battle system is very simplistic, think Zelda. It's more of an action RPG than say Bayo or DMC. I loved it. There's little need to upgrade often and you normally don't need to grind for weapon upgrades.
