    Best Modern Platformers?

Currently playing the awesome Rayman Legends, I realise I'm a bit out of touch with modern platformers. Name your favourites!

I have played and can recommend:

    Braid
    And Yet It Moves
    Limbo
    Rayman Legends
World of Goo (if that counts?)

Max and the Magic Marker is so so.

I know a lot of people didn't like it, but I thought Sonic Generations was pretty awesome.

LittleBigPlanet 1 & 2 (for the Media Molecule stages obviously)

Rayman Origins (sounds like legends has eclipsed it). I agree with the LBP call too.

Cloudberry Kingdom is well worth a look. Starts off easy, then Jesus up goes the difficulty, good fun though and not as frustrating as Mario U for example.
          Check out some youtube clips.

What type are you looking for?
You just looking for platforming, or don't mind some metroidvania style and combat?

              Here's a few I enjoyed, different styles.

Battleblock Theatre is currently on sale this week on xbla.
              Fez (PC/XBLA)
              Fly'n (PC)
              Gianna Sisters Twisted Dreams (xbla/psn/pc)
              Trine 1 & 2
              Super Meat Boy
              VVVVVV
              Dustforce (PC)

New Super Luigi - the 100 second level time limit adds some spice to proceedings, as does Luigi's more floaty handling. Great levels though - it's a non-stop speed run

Excellent call. Trine 2 is the most gorgeous game ever.

I wasn't a huge fan of Origins. Played through it though.

Do Runner and Runner2 qualify? Anyway Sonic Generations ought to be among the greats. There's plenty of indie games too, but I'll be honest and confess to delaying actually playing them :/

Brr... Rayman Legends, maybe in it's own way DKC Returns. Pretty much everything else pales to the highs of the old era greats though and Legends pretty much highlights the issue.

Good point! My mind went a little blank earlier. It is a good game, if not quite up there with Legends.

Purer platformers, I think – more running than hitting. Although I do love a good Metroid-style game.

For clarity, I'm also talking about 2D platformers (though there are some very good 3D ones, like Galaxy). I've seen many that interested me – like Meatboy – but never got round to buying them.
