Following the first teases last week, producer Adi Shankar has premiered the entire six-episode animated web series “Judge Dredd: Superfiend” on his YouTube page. The mini-series also includes an introductory video in which he says the series is a self-contained work and NOT a sequel to 2012’s “Dredd 3D” as such: “This ‘Bootleg Universe’ mini-series […]

I'm guessing this means Olivia Thirlby won't be back. What a waste. So bonafide hot that girl.

The animation is incredibly scrappy, with poor design and little control. Guessing the budget was minimal so likely not the fault of individual animators but it's a shame something like this didn't get the attention it deserves. I don't think it's going to do much to further the case for a Dredd 2.

Before he got into directing with “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation,” filmmaker Alex Garland was best known for his writing work for a whole bunch of notable genre fare including three Danny Boyle films with “28 Days Later,” “The Beach” and “Sunshine” along with the solid literary adaptation “Never Let Me Go” and the under-appreciated video […]

Seems talk for the series continue but Karl Urban is making it clear that Alex Garland directed the film, not Travis, making Ex Machina Garland's second feature and not his debut

Wow, that's quite interesting. I didn't realise how much Garland was involved, so much that he was seeking a Co-Director credit at one point.

It's not the first time a film has been primarily directed by someone else like Poltergeist, Tombstone and Return of the Jedi:
Is the named director of a film the one who's actually been calling the shots? Here are 11 where a 'ghost director' may have been involved.

The creators of the proposed “Judge Dredd: Mega-City One” TV series confirmed to Heat Vision at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend that writer Rob Williams has finished the script for the show’s pilot. Williams, who has been writing stories for anthology magazine 2000AD for years, is leading the creative team for the show which is […]

The pilot script is done, it's targeting SyFy, it's aiming for 2019 and it'll be an ensemble cast effort rather than Dredd led.

Shame it won't be Dredd led, baby.

                Dredd led.

Appearing at the Trekonderoga convention over the holiday weekend, actor Karl Urban briefly spoke about other franchises he’s been involved in – namely Judge Dredd. Urban starred as the iconic 2000AD comics character in 2012’s “Dredd” which was a box-office fizzer but scored solid critical reaction and has since found a loyal cult audience. Urban […]

Karl Urban has said that he's still not attached to the series but has had many discussions about it and remains interested in returning. He also confirms that Dredd himself isn't really in it consistently with the focus being on rookie Judges but has pushed that when Dredd is on screen it needs to be in a meaningful manner and not just to effectively cameo for ratings.

Now that time has passed and the inevitable “The Raid” comparisons due to close release windows have fallen away, 2012’s “Dredd” has grown a deserved cult audience in the wake of strong reviews but disappointing box-office. The project, the second screen adaptation of the “Judge Dredd” comic book series, began life in 2006 as a […]

...Dredd in the water. Dredd as a bloody dodo.

Several years ago came word of “Mega-City One,” an in development TV series adaptation of the “Judge Dredd” comic book series. The series would follow in the wake of the poorly received 1995 film with Sylvester Stallone, and the well-regard 2012 film starring Karl Urban and (mostly) attributed to “Ex Machina” and “Annihilation” writer/helmer Alex […]

Rebellion's CEO has said the scripts are ready for Mega City One now and they're waiting for COVID to pass to move on the project. They hope to get some familiar faces back too and they're also not quit giving up on the notion of attempting Dredd 2 either.
