I can already predict the countless Robis pathetic and lifeless in back alley dumpsters.

You you monster, i don't wan't to think about all those poor failed attempts at construction. It's guilt inducing enough when you wake him up and he thanks you for constructing him. I have a feeling that i'll end up with at least one of them i really don't think i can resist much longer. Even if it means offloading sections of my large game collection to pay for him.

I'd love one too but the price is a joke. A 40,000 yen item at most.

The ones on the market now around the lower price range like the robosapien types and are nowhere near the level of this one, Robi is kind of in the middle range of robots. It certainly isn't up to the sophistication of Sony's last Aibo model before they stopped them but he's suprisingly sophisticated all the same. I hope that they keep improving the tech, this is Robi's 3rd revision so far, i imagine if they manage to get camera tech in him it might be like Sony's Qrio one day. I really hate that Sony shut down their robtics section, it was one of their coolest things.

For anyone curious i have found a youtube playlist showing it been built from start to finish, it's a long process there are 70 videos in the playlist one for each issue. Going to see just how simple this thing is put together.

Enjoy the videos and music that you love, upload original content and share it all with friends, family and the world on YouTube.

Looking on yahoo auctions it seems there are quite a few sellers selling the entire complete set of issues for around ?600-700 although i'm guessing shipping would not be cheap but it's a secondary avenue on getting hold of the entire lot in one go.

Do you know the URL for the Japanese spares site? I'm curious as to how much you could get the whole lot for.

From what i have been reading up you'd have to go through customer support to get hold of the spare parts like the body shells and servos/electronics but they do have some of the common ones listed on the select site but it's the lesser stuff like the screws/servo cables ect.

From what i have seen of the build on youtube so far it's pretty cool, the first handful of kits are not even for building Robi himself, they are for building the servo test and programming station, as you start to build it properly it's essential that you assign the correct number to each servo when programming them you can also test each one you plug in to make sure it works properly before and after programming. This kit has been thought out really well.

Looks like my rare N64's and 64DD will be offloaded to pay for him. No way i'm missing out on the building fun. Robotics is a weakness of mine.

I just have a gut feeling they are going to muck up the UK release there are people already complaining on facebook about not been sent all the issues so far released after months of waiting. They really should have made sure they had enough before they started with a proper release. I'm probably going to raise the funds first and see what happens with uk, if i think it's going to be too much hassle i'll just get a complete set from Japan.

Have discovered that things have changed between the original release and the reissue, the Japanese site warns people not to mix the original and reissue versions up when assembling as things have changed so he may not assemble properly.

Wow, the English voice is a real dealbreaker.

That's one of the dilemmas as i won't be able to understand a lot of the magazine that comes with each part set when it's in Japanese, however that english voice is pretty rank, the last issue contains the software on a micro sd card to make him properly come alive, earlier on you get a micro sd with some test software to make sure he's assembled but the final issue is the one that contains his heart.

So it's risk the uk one so i get everything in english then import issue 70 from Japan so i can get his Japanese personality. I love his voice in Japanese it's just so cute, the english one makes me cringe. Or the other method is just to go all Japanese and pretend the english one doesn't exist.

One thing that i haven't worked out yet is some versions of Robi i have spotted on youtube like the singing vid i posted a page back have rounded ear covers with an aditional rings of light in each one, i have no idea where those come from as they are not part of the kit and i can't find them as extras on the Deagostini Japanese site. They look too good to be home made but maybe they are it's Japan after all.

Love the charging pod you can get for him, it's like something a Bond villan would use hehe
