So, watched Birds of Prey yesterday and I enjoyed it but I do find the high reviews etc to be a little surprising. The film is very much a day in the life of Harley which means it's very low scale. There are several good performances and what action is in there is fine enough too, though the film also feels like an extension piece to Suicide Squad. We get to see a couple of Gotham locations but it's still strange how the DCU often seems to struggle to embrace its comic imagery with hardly any of the characters resembling their comic incarnations much which really dilutes the imagery. Huntress is a strong point in the film though in it far too little, Black Mask is decent too. So yeah, it's an alright side diversion from the usual big scale sky beam epics but mostly just that.
