No, about her casting. As far as Twitter goes, it seems like there's a vocal base who were very vocally against her before the casting and they've been stoking the fires hard on this one since the news broke. You'd think they cast her as Batman at this rate.

The very first reactions I saw were all “SJWs have ruined everything” and had nothing to do with her acting. Given Batwoman is a lesbian character and it’s a BIG part of her character, I’m guessing any woman playing her would have faced the same reaction. I haven’t seen her in anything but she certainly looks perfect for the role based on the comics I read (which were pretty great).

Besides, if it had been about her acting, the same people would have hounded Cavill off Twitter when he was cast for Man of Steel. But they wouldn’t. Because he’s a white guy.

I mean, she's been pretty well rubbished for her acting for a long time now. She first came up for me when she was in a season of Orange is the New Black, then again with the last Resi Evil film and most recently with John Wick 2 but for each of those any criticism I've ever seen of her as always been down to her acting over anything else, her casting in Batwoman is the first real time I've read so much vitriol about her outside of that criticism.

The thing is, her being self described gender fluid playing a gay superhero is by the by. It's as though straight actors have never played gay ones before or vice versa. Finding out more since this kicked off about her outside acting, you'd think they'd be behind it.

Reed Morano, director of multiple episodes of Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” series, is rumored to be at the top of a wish list to direct the new “Supergirl” movie at Warner Bros. Pictures. Geeks WorldWide broke the report, saying Morano is the studio’s first choice but they’ve yet to reach out to the director with […]

With “Justice League” a failure, plans for the future of film adaptations of DC Comics titles seem to be on hold. While Warners has four DC films scheduled between now and the end of 2019 on the way, other proposed films like “The Flash,” ‘Green Lantern Corps.” and “Cyborg” are stuck in development. That’s a […]

Ray Fisher says Cyborg would cost $200m to make which is contributing to the hold up.

Speculation has long run that Matt Reeves’ still in development “The Batman” will recast the role with current big screen Ben Affleck departing. Affleck’s recent visit to rehab, and the likely insurance premium hike that comes with that, makes his return even less likely. So far Jake Gyllenhaal and Jack Huston’s names have been rumored […]

Apparently, if Warners really wants to get things wrong with The Batman they can cast Kit Harington

Whenever there’s discussion about who should play Batman, one name that pops up fairly regularly on contender lists is former “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm. Hamm has the physique, looks, age, sophistication and action chops to pull off an older Batman. With Ben Affleck’s return to the role likely off the table at this point, […]

John Hamm says he's never had any discussions about playing Batman but if it came up he'd do it

Henry Cavill’s stint as Superman has seemingly ended. THR reports that Cavill will no longer play Superman after negotiations for a cameo in “Shazam!” broke down due to scheduling conflicts. As such, Warners has reportedly decided to part ways with the actor. Said conflicts are said to have nothing to do with his recent commitment […]

Meanwhile this report exploded everywhere saying that because talks of Henry Cavill appearing in a cameo in Shazam broke down he was now no longer going to portray Superman in the DCU movies. Deadline apparently reported that years from now Michael B Jordan is being viewed to be cast as Superman. Frankly, the whole thing sounded suspect from the outset and true enough, yet much less widely reported as the world has long held a fixation in seeing the DCU actors fall from its umbrella, is that Cavill's agent denied the report

For much of this year, four films have been in development starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn character from the DC Comics adaptation “Suicide Squad”. They include the direct sequel to that, a “Gotham City Sirens” project that was to be helmed by David Ayer, a Joker and Harley Quinn ‘Mad Love’ style film from writer/directors […]

The extended new trailer for Aquaman. Now, on one hand it's over five minutes long so you're seeing far more than you likely want to but on the other hand it at least gives the impression that with this film the DCU is finally taking its first firm step beyond Snyderverse tone.
