Wait hang on I thought the whole hullabaloo about "release the Snyder Cut" was that it was finished & just needed editing to be in a watchable state??

So that's not actually the case?

To be fair if I was Joss Whedon I'd be mortified at what is happening
People hated my movie so much that they forced a studio to release another version
I'd be refusing to work for WB ever again after being shat on that badly

The official announcement of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” this week, the much talked about Snyder Cut of the film finally being made official and setting a 2021 target release, continues to dominate conversation. Along with stirring up talk of what failed films with legendary director’s cuts deserve a second chance, and the scary power of […]

A new report says that the budget for Snyder's Justice League will go on everything except filming of new scenes. It also says that this new cut will be the final farewell to Snyder's era on the DC Universe with nothing to ever spring from the abandoned plans or spin-offs meaning that this new version does nothing to affect Warner's progression away from the opening salvo of films that the Flash film is still speculated to write off.

Reports the other day indicated that the work required to finish off “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” as intended will cost the HBO Max streaming service something in the range of $20-30 million. WarnerMedia Chairman Bob Greenblatt however, appearing on the latest episode of the Recode Media podcast this week to discuss the launch of the […]

The Chairman of Warnermedia has said that making Snyder's Justice League is complicated and that when it comes to the rumoured $30m budget he wishes that amount were true.

In the wake of the Snyder Cut announcement for HBO Max last week, support is surging for David Ayer’s original director’s cut of “Suicide Squad” to also be released on the service. The 2016 film was an economic success, but scored mostly negative reviews from fans and critics. It’s a film that was famously compromised […]

Whilst David Ayer is increasingly keen to see his version of Suicide Squad see the light of day which has never seen any airing since Warner Bros and a trailer making company recut the entire film into the existing lighter version.

It really doesn't give much away except largely colour grading but for giggles here's the final trailer for the theatrical version of Justice League:

Versus the first trailer which is about the only thing from the Snyder version out there even if most the footage was used:

One key difference is that the final film has a lot of shots where the lighting and framing of actors actively looks like them on a set with CG elements added whereas in the Synder version everything seems properly blended together consistently.

Alternatively, here's the last wide trailer for Suicide Squad:

Versus the first when it was still Ayer's version:

Henry Cavill is in talks to portray Clark Kent/Superman once again, two years after departing the role. Cavill last played the part in 2017’s “Justice League” The extent of his return has not been disclosed, so it’s not clear if it is for future films, but apparently Cavill “could come back in a couple of […]

Henry Cavill is in talks to return as Superman in the DC Universe. Plans are being set up for him to appear in several ways but those plans still don't include a Man of Steel 2.

The other day came word that Henry Cavill was in talks to return to the DC film universe as Superman, albeit in a limited capacity. We know his return won’t be for a “Man of Steel” sequel, and no reshoots are planned for Zack Snyder’s new cut of “Justice League”. So is it going to […]

It sounds like Warner's plans to use Superman like Marvel uses Hulk, supporting other characters. He's reportedly being lined up for an upcoming DC movie with the likeliest candidate easily being Shazam 2

Filmmaker David Ayer continues to get more vocal on social media about the fate of the problematic “Suicide Squad” film and how much his cut differed from the significantly edited and reworked theatrical cut released in 2016. Ayer’s new found confidence comes thanks to a serious push by fans to see his original cut of […]

David Ayer has confirmed that the first trailer for Suicide Squad is accurate to the tone of the original cut of the film saying that it was filmed as a soulful drama. However, the critical response to Batman v Superman and the success of the first Deadpool movie led to Warner's retooling the film into a comedic toned action film instead.

I don't know why WB feel they have to scramble at the coat tails of others. DC has a popular following with some great story arcs. They can just do they're own thing and watch the money roll in.

It just won’t stop. Warner Bros, in the wake of moving Tenet from July 17 to July 31 and Wonder Woman 1984 from Aug. 14 to Oct. 2, has shifted a number of its movies on the 2020 schedule to deeper in the calendar.  Matrix 4, which currently paused production in Berlin but might restart next month goes from […]

Wonder Woman 1984 has had its second delay, now set for 02 October 2020

So, we currently have the existing loose canon of the DC Cinematic Universe in which the various main characters are introduced over the course of the first four films before standalone tales take over and we build our way up to where we are now. The upcoming line up continues this trend leading us to The Flash which has long been rumoured to be utilising the Flashpoint storyline in which Barry Allen reaches a point in his development where he discovers that he can move fast enough through the speed force to travel through time. Amazed by this new ability he goes back in time to the night of the murder of his mother and, unable to resist temptation, saves her causing massive disruption to the causality of the DC timeline and changes to the existing canon that become permanent.

As part of this it's been long suggested that this storyline will create an in-canon method for DC to reboot various aspects of the DC Cinematic Universe in a way that doesn't dismiss the existing pre-Flashpoint content. As part of the canon changes the existing Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Shazam etc would survive and if talks succeed so would Superman. Presumably Harley Quinn would also survive but DC would be free to recast and reboot Batman, Joker etc where casting issues exist. With the upcoming Batman trilogy not being part of the DC Cinematic Universe it means that Ben Affleck's incarnation of Batman still needs to be replaced however DC has no current need to do standalone films for the character that would compete with the in development standalone trilogy. That leads us to this report:

That talks are underway for Bruce Wayne/Batman to continue as a multi-film mentor character to other starring characters like Tony Stark became in later MCU movies. Once again an older Bruce who oversee's characters like Batgirl, Nightwing etc and if this report is true Warner Bros are in talks for the role to hire

My goodness, DC / Warner have made an utter balls-up of their "CU".

Whereas Marvel look to have planned out what was going to happen when and tie it all together, DC / Warner have gone in with what I call "shotgun mode" and just fired randomly.

The problem is they have the Nolan Batman films which are incredible and would have given the CU a grounded foundation to build on but then they went and hired Hack Snyder to just go mad like a kid who's had too much sugar.

Wonder Woman was good but the other recent DC films have been garbage - Suicide Squad, JL, BvS: DoJ. Yuck!!

Shazam was ok. Joker is fantastic but not really a superhero film. I prefer this way for DC. Just look at them as comics by different creators. Individual stories and different artists. Some you will like, and some you won't. Hey, Batman 66 came back in. How about a one off DC film in that style? Nothing stopping them.

Marvel will have trouble replacing actors in the MCU and have to rely on falcon becoming cap and probably Miles becoming spiderman instead of just having a different Peter Parker. Thing is, what happens after Miles? Reboot I guess.
