      That's right folks... More bull****.
This time EA has put real world ads into UFC 4 as soon as the review period is over. Now when you view replays you get an advert wizz across your screen first.

Edit: looking back on here it seems there have been rumbles of this coming.

The most annoying aspect of this, for me, is how EA almost had something actually quite good, and went and ****ed it up.

So the idea of ads on the hoardings, on the surface of the ring? For me, in a UFC/boxing/sports game, totally okay. It's one of the ONLY scenarios where real-world advertising actually INCREASES immersion and makes the game feel more like real life. But EA had to go make it part of the user interface too.

        They just couldn't resist.

Thats how ads look when watching UFC, so good job.

No one moans about it after buying a 60 dollar PPV but a 60 dollar game? Twitter is outraged!

Maybe the ads should offset the price of the game.

EA have backed down and removed the ads. Obviously knowing that it was ****ty.

UPDATE 06/09/20: EA has now removed in-game ads from UFC 4 after fans flooded the company's social channels with compla…

If you don't buy cosmetics it seem you could play the game and all the battle passes without spending any more money on it, you can earn 6000 credits of premium currency if you compete the first 6 characters battle pass which are all free, (you get 1000 premium credits for completing a battle pass) so in theory you can open up every battle pass with the free credits you get from doing the first 6 heroes as you get 1000 back each time you finish one. you'd still have 6000 credits left when you finished all the heroes battle passes too.

Testing the waters and seeing how much backlash they'd get.

It's becoming (if not already) a case of not just not pre-ordering games, but not buying them until three months after launch once all the post review patches are applied adding in all the crap they didn't want reviewers reviewing.

How long does it take to grind out a single battle pass? If it's anything like R6 Siege, grinding out a single operator takes months. I've managed to get enough R6 credits since R6 Siege launched to get one operator. So yes, technically you can get all the operators for free, if you dedicated your entire life to pursuing it.

Looking at how it works (ive not played the final game only the beta) the pass system is challege based you have daily challenges and weekly challenges to earn points with the pass needs 200 points to fully unlock. you can earn up to 66 points a week via the daily weekly challenges and they take about an hour of grind per day to complete. so if you played it every day for a three weeks you would complete the battle pass in roughly 21 hours per character.

The UK Government wants your thoughts on loot boxes (Eurogamer)

You may remember that back in June, the UK Government announced it would launch a call for evidence on loot boxes in response to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee's inquiry into immersive and addictive technologies. Well, that's launching today - and is now open for submissions.

Announced via the UK Government website, the call for evidence seeks "the experiences of players and their parents or guardians as well as rigorous, high quality data and research from video games companies, academia, civil society as well as any other organisations with an interest in this issue." That means both players and game organisations can have a say on loot boxes - so if you want to write in through the player survey or feedback form, you can find the information on this page. You'll have until 22nd November to get all your thoughts down, as this is when submissions close.
Haven't had a chance to look at the form, but will do soon.

A pair of Canadian lawyers are going after EA.

A pair of Canadians have filed a class action lawsuit against Electronic Arts, alleging that the company’s use of loot boxes violates the country’s Criminal Code.

If that goes through though, it'll be quite a wade-ranging precedent. No more selling blind packs of of things like Magic: the Gathering.

As far as I can tell they are specifically suing EA, not changing the law.

So in Watch Dogs Legion, Ubisoft is letting you buy Operatives for real money: https://gamerant.com/watch-dogs-legi...otransactions/

Isn't the whole point of the game to recruit operatives?

Isn't that how law works, though? Like if they find EA guilty of this, then it sets a precedent that others doing the same thing are guilty of the same act.

I don't know. I see it as slapping EA and saying 'abide by our laws'. Maybe EA will use the Magic: the Gathering as a defence.
