The Government is beginning to concede that Parliament will seize control of the Brexit process this week. Once May's deal is kicked out the way Brexit moves to the next deadline which is 12 April, Jeremy Hunt is said to have infuriated Cabinet members for pushing for the third vote to be delayed till 10 April, a continuation of May's rigging process, but he was kicked into touch quickly.
When Indicative Voting takes place the Government is said to be aware MP's will ignore their approach to them and do as they please signifying that May's control over Brexit will be completely lost.
MPs vote by 329 to 302 for Letwin amendment, despite Theresa May saying government would not be bound by result
But regarding that third vote. The ERG are said to be ready to cave in on themselves to support May's Deal if she will timetable her resignation, the DUP are said to be thinking the same but won't go first as it'll be a bad look to support it at this stage. Even if both rally it's expected that they no longer make up enough numbers to swing the tide in May's favour. May will reportedly only schedule her resignation is victory for her deal is secure.

I don't get it. Not for the first time in this whole Brexit thing. I don't get it. I don't get why you would agree to support a deal in order to get rid of the person who put forward the deal and the reason you want them gone is the deal you have now decided to support. I don't get it. Your politicians are crazy. They will change the entire nature of your country and make a history-changing choice in order to play tiny little politician games.

It feels like, I dunno, like they're all saying one thing - we want the best for this country, but actually they've all got different agendas that they're not allowed to reveal.
Rees-Mogg gets money from Brexit, Cameron got votes for promising a referendum, The DUP got a squillion pounds, Theresa May wants to be the one that takes us past the finishing line, Gove and Johnson want to be PM and so on.
It's like that Party Quirks game on Have I got News For You, where they all go to a party, but they've all got a secret characteristic and that's the real point of the game.
Or something.

MPs vote by 329 to 302 for Letwin amendment, despite Theresa May saying government would not be bound by result
It was chased up as to how much attention the ongoing petition and weekend March got during Lobby briefings this morning and the answer is largely an emphatic none. It came up briefly but was swiftly dismissed and is clear MP's and May couldn't care less about either.
Meanwhile, Corbyn has met with May and pushed that there shouldn't be a third vote at all. In doing so he revealed that May has been considering two votes, separating the withdrawal agreement from the political declaration however Corbyn rejected her idea. He also confirmed that she plans to ignore MP's voting in the indicative votes.
May is now expected to speak to MP's at 3.30pm to say she doesn't have enough support for her third meaningful vote so wants more time. Time for Bercow to permanently block her.

Liam Fox says if MP's hold indicative votes the Government could simply ignore them. God help them if they try.

The day’s political developments as they happened, including reaction to the Commons voting to try to take control of the Brexit process
Rees-Mogg has said that he feels it's becoming increasingly clear, with the anti-No Deal movements Parliament keeps making, that when the UK gets down to the wire MPs will be faced with a two-option choice: May's Deal or No Brexit

Eyeroll as it's inevitably tied to trying to get a third vote through to her deal which is a horrific basis for MP's to vote favourable for her under but May will address Tory MP's at 5pm tomorrow and is expected to set a date for her resignation.

The waves seems to be washing in the direction that the ERG will back TM's deal if she resigns, install a new PM and then renege on said agreement with the EU.
Yeah, can't see that working well with the EU negotiators.
Same heads, different beach to stick their heads in - it's skimble-scamble.Last edited by MartyG; 26-03-2019, 11:23.
