I love Wayne's World. It's one of my favourite films.
When Wayne's World 2 came out, I went out of my way to watch as many clips as possible.
I was crying at the kung fu fight scene that they showed in the MTV Wayne's World 2 Special.

The problem is, when the film came out, I'd seen all of the funny bits and it lost its impact.

The same with The Matrix Reloaded. Those amazing visuals can only be seen for the first time once and I'd rather see them in the context of the film, rather that thinking "That's the cool bit from the trailer".

Since then, I watch a trailer if I'm undecided or haven't heard about it, but I'll go as far as sitting in the cinema with my eyes closed and fingers in my ears, humming to avoid a trailer!

That's my approach too. I'll watch a clip to help me decide to buy a game or watch a movie but if it's something I'm gonna play/watch anyway, I wanna go in completely blind.

I've recently started watching trailer roundup videos on YouTube, because that way I discover some of the more unusual choices.
I'm currently looking forward to Upgrade, which I discovered this way.

They're putting those things out into the world to try and attract people, and make the "experience" of discovery and hype before seeing/experiencing something as much a part of an event as the event itself.

If a movie studio puts out a trailer, and I criticise it, it feels strange when the studio says "don't judge the movie based on the trailer!" - what, then, was the trailer for? It was meant to get me interested.

I think this doubly with poor game demos; they're like if you try a sampler of food from a restaurant and you don't like it. The whole point of the sampler was so I could find out whether I would like the product. If I don't like it, I think it's perfectly reasonable to assume the full meal isn't going to go well.
Reviewing samples of food and video game demos makes sense but you can't properly know a movie or a game by watching a trailer.

I had similar with War of the Roses, I liked Romancing and Jewel and after seeing the advert I thought it looked good except all the action was contained in the advert - the rest of the film was merely a vehicle for all three and utter pap.

When a tv commercial invites you to try a mattress free for 100 days, what happens to the ones people send back?

You can’t really know if a movie trailer is good until you’ve skated with it. Are we still doing this btw?

We don't have many running forum memes, so we absolutely should.

We bought a Koala mattress which came with a 120-day free trial. We sent ours back this weekend because it was a bit too soft.

I can't speak for other brands, but Koala donates returned mattresses to charity(which is also why the mattresses need to be in reasonable condition when returning them). I think they're given to homeless shelters.

Koala only sells online so a) you can't test one before you buy, and b) they save tons of money by not having a showroom.

Apparently, the losses from returned mattresses are much less than the costs of showrooms. Also, they have a questionnaire that you fill in which they use to help with R&D to improve future mattresses. They also say you can't properly test out a mattress in a showroom with a sales person hovering around.

Carrying on with puzzling mattresses, why do some adverts show people going to bed with no sheets?!

Same reason people don't cuddle up under thick cosy sheets in porn.
