I'm now convinced I don't need an Analogue system, the Mister is expensive and undersupported and now I need a Rasberry Pi 4 for my emulation needs.

****s sake, I might just turn off my Wi-Fi for the weekend to stop looking!

The Mister is not undersupported not by a long shot, and expensive well that's relevant to the individual ( i dont think it is)
i tried to pie and hated it.

Sorry, I meant more that it seems some games aren’t running perfectly and require work, whereas some software emulation is pretty solid after years of development.

Of course, my knowledge is based on what I’ve read and not what I’ve experienced.

Thought I'd weigh in on this and apologies if I repeat anything.

I use a MiSTer in each one of my candy cabs. I've also had both the MD/SFC Analogue consoles (along with the original consoles) and used countless emulators such as Higan, BSNES, Higan etc. etc. And done various comparisons from everything from PCs to Shield TVs to Series X. I've also had a range of Pi setups. However I'm still far from an expert but am a huge SNES fan.

I think the MiSTer is amazing. However...I think it's only truly 'accurate' (if that's your bag) if you are using it on the appropriate display. As such I use mine solely with arcade CRTS (or any CRT). Mainly as the NTSC SNES has a 60.10 hz refresh rate, so unless you are using a CRT, Multisync Monitor or current VRR monitor (OLEDs don't work sadly) then it won't technically displays accurately. I'd argue this is more of an issue on Neo-Geo games, which run at under 60hz and have weird shadow blinking on Samurai Shodown II etc. when locked to 60hz.

The advantage of a MiSTer however, if you don't have a specific display is that you can use SNAC adapter to run the original pads of MD, SNES etc. etc. or better yet build your own zero lag Daemon adapters, which is fairly simple - especially if you get the slightly larger Arduinos from Amazon which require zero soldering.

As far as a Pi is concerned it's fine, but would be my least favoured option. It's a great little box for occasional use, but I think if you're a fan you'll notice some of the inaccuracies and lag (depending on your set I guess).

My preferred option is one not listed, whereby I use my MiSTers with either my sticks or an SNAC adapter on my Nanao CRT for consoles if I'm feeling really flash and want super duper accuracy (as much as possible) or I simply use Retroarch on my Series X and BSNES. The latter runs really well with no perceptible lag (although I'm sure it's there) and I can even use MSU-1 audio which is amazing (my old SD2SNES PRO could also do this).

I think ultimately it depends how much you are going to use the console. If you are just flipping it on to play a few games once or twice a week as much as I love the MiSTer (having two I'll probably get a third for PC Midi - which is lovely) it's probably overkill for your needs. It isn't particularly tricky to setup and you can buy setups fairly simply. The Analogue devices are lovely and I'd gladly have another, but I'm unsure if I could justify the cost when the MiSTer does almost the same thing and more of it. For me when I want a quick bash through SNES or MD I largely stick to the Series X in Dev Mode with Retroarch, as I found, to be honest, it's rare unless I'm doing comparisons or showing a mate the consoles in their full glory that I'll notice the difference.

Thanks for the reply there buddy
Can you actually get these Mister things pre-built & pre-loaded?
Think that is realistically the only way I'll ever get one

I’d build one for you. The issue would be if something went wrong later on while you were using it. If you don’t set it up yourself you probably can’t diagnose and fix problems yourself so really I’d be building you a time bomb of disappointment!

If you can use your email you can build, and update, a MiSTer.

I let my three year old son (successfully) build mine. Although I applied the heatsink because I wanted it perfectly aligned.

He also deleted your MotM save data, so that’s no guarantee!

(I jest, of course. I think it’s wicked that he built it)

Might actually be able to buy one in 2022 then. That would be good.

Knew this was coming, not surprised but still a little irritated. They post gifs of games that'll run on the system constantly and yet no confirmation it was still on schedule.

Probably won't be seeing Analogue Duo until sometime deep into 2023 then, if that...

MegaSG and NT mini Noir jailbreak firmware are now available. Hopefully the SuperNT isn’t far behind.

analoguejb has 4 repositories available. Follow their code on GitHub.
