What Psu is fitted and how?

It has a 240V ATX PSU fitted in.

Yeah didn't have time I'll get back this week on this one. Weird. The guy that modded it though stated this:

"The Original PSU was fried but I was able to use a slim ATX type I had on the shelf which actually had a higher rating than the original so there were no concerns there. I remember building a little logic circuit to interface the X68K power switch to the ATX 'ON' signal but that's about all that was carried out on that Machine."

I guess it would be worth to recap it if a repair job is in the works.

A screeching sounds like a short somewhere. Disassemble and refit shielding. Also check for continuity with a multimeter.
