Even though the second season of Amazon’s “The Boys” doesn’t kick off until September 4th, the streaming giant has already renewed the darkly comic show for a third season. During the show’s panel for Comic-Con @ Home, showrunner Eric Kripke says the second season is “a lot more intense…we worked hard to make season 2 […]

Despite positive second quarter earnings Netflix has seen its share value drop as expectations set in that new subscriber rates will slump later in the year
Surely this is nonsense? Who's going to cancel Netflix? Are they thinking because of lack of new content?

I can only guess that lockdown has driven up subscriber numbers and they expect a lot to let their subs lapse as workplaces reopen

Netflix has announced plans for “The Witcher: Blood Origin,” a six part live-action limited event series that serves as a prequel to the streaming giant’s main “The Witcher” series. Set in an elven world 1,200 years before the world of The Witcher, the show will chart the origins of the very first Witcher and the […]

It's that coupled with how Netflix are billions in debt.

The moment their growth stops, if they're not making profit, the wolves will come for them. It's not going to be pretty.

AMC and Universal have settled their feud having struck a new deal that will see Universals movies on the cinema for a minimum of 17 days rather than the usual 90 days which means the studio can launch on VOD faster but risks losing screens to rivals when big films launch.

The Consumer Electronic Show, or CES as it’s widely known where all the big electronic gadgets of the year from new TV models to smart fridges are shown off, will not be held in Las Vegas in January as per usual. The convention had been scheduled to run January 6th-9th next year, and has become […]

An attempt to bring Comic-Con out of San Diego and online proved rather disastrous going by social media reaction. A new report in Variety indicates social engagement for the virtual fan convention was down 94% from last year’s live event and average views on YouTube for Thursday’s panels came in at around a poor 15,000. Comic-Con 2020 just completed its attempt at doing the same and the result? A failure. Social Engagement was down an eye watering 94% with average YouTube views at a poor 15,000.

There's still back and forth on this but it's beginning to look like Hulu might be axing The Orville after its upcoming third season

The big announcement of the day if not week hit just a few hours ago as Disney Pictures announced that its live-action “Mulan” remake will not only be coming to cinemas on September 4th, but will be available as a quite highly priced premium rental within the subscription streaming service. For years there’s been talk […]

Disney+ targeted achieving between 60m and 90m users within 5 years of its launch. Just under one year since it launched it has already passed the 60m in an accomplishment that must set a few brows sweating at Netflix.

It'll be interesting how many people don't re-new after the first year. The honeymoon period passed pretty quickly for us.

Yep. Netflix will absolutely be worried about these figures and they should be. But it also puts a huge amount of pressure on Disney now to maintain their figures. That requires more content and now they are in the situation where they have to keep feeding that machine. The more they have to maintain, the more it costs them in content.

I’d be interested to see the average number of streaming services people are subscribing to.

I’ve had Neflix since it was LoveFilm, joined Hulu 3-4 years ago, Amazon Prime for around the same, and most recently Disney+. Disney is the one we watch the least because it’s a weird hybrid service that doesn’t work on PS4 in Japan. Watching through the browser on PC is a buffering nightmare, and it only allows downloads on mobile devices. Even then, it seems said devices can not display downloaded stuff on the TV, only streamed stuff. Nonsense.
