Filmmaker Zack Snyder’s The Stone Quarry Productions banner has signed a two-year first-look film deal with Netflix which will include a direct sequel to this year’s zombie heist film “Army of the Dead”. The deal, the company’s first since exiting Warner Bros. Pictures in 2019, comes just weeks after Snyder set up his next movie, […]

I mean, admittedly, all the media/entertainment companies are going to see this if the pandemic's effects reverse. VR as a medium grew like crazy in the last 18 months.

They'll see slowing rates but Netflix seems to have been hit first and I wouldn't be surprised if the price hikes in some regions and the amount of lost content is starting to take a toll

Plus just wider awareness of the competition. In many territories, Netflix essentially had a monopoly on streaming for a long time. A drop off in growth seemed inevitable as that changed. The streaming market is currently a tough battleground.

Netflix has announced it is in early development of a new live-action “Pokemon” TV series. Joe Henderson, the current co-showrunner and executive producer of Netflix’s “Lucifer” series, is attached to write and executive produce. He also worked on Hulu’s “11.22.63” and USA’s “White Collar”. That show airs its sixth and final season at the streamer […]

Sky Marks End of an Era as ‘Sky One’ Channel Is Retired in a Major Rebrand

My cynical side says it's to split the content into two channels, Sky Max and Sky Showcase, to enable them to change subscription packages so that you have to pay more to get them both when the content used to be on one channel.

Similar to when Sky and Virgin fell out, then made up and Sky let Virgin have Sky One again, by which point, Sky had moved all the big shows like Game of Thrones over to Sky Atlantic, which wasn't available on Virgin.

This was a fascinating documentary about Sky's nefarious practices to destroy BSB:

Sounds about right though I suspect Sky will be the ones most hurt by gating their content more aggressively, if you have Virgin and a streaming service like Netflix/Disney+ then Sky is largely redundant. It's like fighting over scraps thinking the consumer is desperate when they're actually pretty full.

Yep. Sky are going to lose here and hold pretty much zero power over consumers now. Feels like they need to do everything they can to make their services as easy and attractive to access.

It's just annoying that HBO sign that Sky deal.
