I know people moan about endless reboots but I'm happy with anything that brings a new audience to the original via the reboot. Also, the pilot will be directed by Fred Savage himself.

Aardman Animation and Netflix’s “Chicken Run” sequel made headlines with an announcement the other week which indicated Mel Gibson would not be returning to voice the lead character of Rocky. His re-casting was not unexpected, but today has come word of one that is – the film’s female lead character of Ginger. Actress Julia Sawalha, […]

Julie Salwahla has hit out against Aardman and Netflix after learning that they will be passing her over to reprise the role of Ginger in Chicken Run 2 because they say she is too old for the role. She says that they haven't even tested her voice to evidence the claim and to prove her point has released a recording of her delivering some of the original films lines next to the 21 year old recordings which show her to sound practically identical.

Gaston Actor Luke Evans has offered an update on how the live-action “Beauty and the Beast” spin-off TV series for Disney+ is progressing. A prequel, the show will follow his character Gaston and his man-servant and friend LeFou (Josh Gad). Evans says “we’re in fully fledged development. I think what'll push this to being a bigger story is if Aardman announce the actor, and it's a bit of a nobody. Mel Gibson also isn't coming back (though admittedly that's probably to do with how he's since become a controversial figure) and from looking at her filmography, she hasn't been particularly active in the last 10 years (putting aside the "actresses of a certain age" problem which could just as likely be the cause).

If Aardman get a top-tier name they can put on the poster, then perhaps that's the reason why. If not, then it does feel a bit malicious.

This is a bit like when the actor who played Shaggy in the Scooby Doo movies - and subsequently played Shaggy in everything for a decade - found out he wasn't going to do the voice in the new movie from Twitter.
