Posted in the Game Pass discussion thread too, and it's a small UK centric sample so not to be relied on but in a poll of 3,000 UK gamers MCVDevelop asked about their interest in buying a next gen console within the first three months of them being on shelves:


84% were excited for PlayStation 5
15% for Series X

It’s a somewhat pointless survey because not a single person asked knows the price of the consoles, which can make a huge impact on sales.

If I had to guess before I'd have said it's 70/30 but off the back off the last Xbox event I can understand the slide.... But as family fry mentions there's other factors to consider.

Where price is concerned I'm wondering what the impact of a second COVID wave will have on this in the UK when we're in winter and lockdown might be re-enforced. Pricing is going to be very tricky on luxury items... So whether you're excited for these consoles or not is it a good time to buy?

Most of the gamer friends I have (which isn't many) are all planning on getting a PS5. One has had the Xbone since launch and is jumping ship.
I saw a financial insider report somewhere that predicts the PS5 will sell upwards of 170 million units in 5 years. Pretty sure that number has just been pulled from his ass.

Considering the PS4 has sold 110 million in 7 years and the stories are online are talking about this upcoming gen only being 5 years that seems like a massive task

I feel like no console is going to reach those numbers of even threaten them ever again. PS2 was about as good as it got on that front.

PS4 pads won't play PS5 games, but they can play PS4 games. Arcade sticks and other specialised peripherals will work with all titles. PSVR will work with everything too, but will require an adapter for the camera, which Sony will provide for free.

Reading that blog post it all seems fair enough.

Wondering now whether to wait and get the PS5 headset or buy one of the TLOU2 Gold ones.

Ill be honest, its left me with even more questions.

I'm guessing the camera adapter is a USB to USB/C adapter?
Does the Dualsense controller work with PSVR since it doesn't have the light bar on the top? Or is this what the adapter is for?
Do we need the PSVR Breakout box?
Is the new white camera we have seen advertised a replacement for the current camera and does that work with PSVR?

I am disappoint
