Was planning on installing COD:Infinite Warfare last night but it wanted about 70gb of space and I couldn't be arsed deleting owt, so instead decided to install Quantum Break instead...which then needed a 41g update. Bah.

So found myself playing Dead Space 2. I got stuck on the PS3 version of this many years back (some big mech geezah) and have tried so many times to restart it I know the first how of gameplay off by heart.

But it's the first time in years I've persisted past that first hour, onto Chapter 4 and loving it, this was always a brilliant-looking game and it's held up great, I just forgot how tough the killer toddlers are, so annoying!!!

First 2 dead space games are amazing i loved every second playing. My greatest achievement is still unlocking the foam finger it's hillarious to play through with it.

Demon Gaze II on the Vita. It's all I've played this year and have got to the final boss, but I get raped like a pretty boy in the prison showers. So now I'm grinding levels so my characters aren't so pathetic and I actually stand a chance of completing the damn game!

I really don't miss a wheel with this ... rumble triggers were such a great idea and used to great effect here. This game feels purely about the joy of cars and driving and it has a momentum that delivers thrills almost constantly. Really, really good.
I’m not especially into cars and I don’t drive, but the game is bags of fun. The handling and speed just feel so good. They really nailed that aspect.

I would really like them to take the business management aspects further in a sequel. Give it a light tycoon element alongside the driving, that would be wonderful.

In fact, I’m going to put it on right now.

Yeah, they're absolutely brill, Visceral were a very gifted team and this was a serious Resi contender, it plays great. I'm even looking forward to 3, I hear the bad reviews and I see the brighter look and I'm thinking it still looks lush, almost like the Bioshock Infinite of the series with its brighter palette. Looks good to me!

Up to stage 7 of Dead Space 2, had a few cans and ain't been on it since Monday so got me squiffy, didn't wanna forget the campaign on a drunken sesh so switched to the free copy of Crackdown they gave away a month or two back.

This was my very first 360 game back in May 2009. And I LOVED it, in fact I *still* love it, it is still quirky and beautiful and fun.

But it has aged, I'd be a liar to say it hasn't. It's a bit sad admitting it but hey ho. Really needs a boost to 60fps, it would be exquisite...

Like Roy Castle would sing, dedications what you need and that's what I tried this weekend to nudge on with some slow progress stuff.

New Super Mario Bros Deluxe - Getting late into World 3 now, should make fairly quick work of the main campaign this week

                Red Dead Redemption II
                - Big push on this one and just early on in Chapter IV. The change of setting is nice if, so far, seeming like window dressing only. Chapter III overall was another big slog and largely entirely filler.

Burnout Paradise Remastered - Still relatively early but I'm not going for 100% or anything this time, just to get the main events and vehicles unlocked which is going at a steady pace now. Still plays utterly sublime and counters RDR's slogness nicely

Nice to see somebody else still playing this, although I suspect your frustrations are linked to your backlog and being unwilling to breathe a game in, rather than tick off another title to get to another.

I'm still in Chapter 2, arsing around the Wicky Wah Wah Wild West.
I did a mission, then it unlocked the gambling challenges, so now I'm doing those! I'm so easily distracted!
Done the first few and I'm on the one to make a player go bust in all three Poker locations. I can only access two!
In Saint Denis, one guy was on the ropes as I joined and I could smell blood. Ironically, the other guys got cocky and I beat the two stronger players with a trip queen.

I do have a habit of getting into trouble by accident.

One guy gave me some sass so I sassed him back and he started a fist fight.
I accidentally drew my gun and it all went South after that.
Visiting Saint Denis, I saw a guy on the gallows. They dropped him as he was about to ask for help and as I approached the corpse, the police went nuts and I was instantly wanted and had to escape and pay my bounty.
All a bit of a time waste when I didn't go lookin' for trubble.

I should do some more storylines, but I'm enjoying just tinkering on sidequests, so I'm not compelled to.
My only concern is I'll want to move on to another game before getting to the meat of the story.

I think with RDR2 it's more, if it weren't the current big Rockstar game I'd find it easier to have dropped it by now. I'm still enjoying the technical accomplishment of it all but the core gameplay loop it relies on is pretty poor. I find if I step away for a few days I put it on and enjoy settling into it but the more I play it in a run the worse it gets as there's so much of the core gameplay that is pretty poorly delivered. I kind of half enjoy it, half feel duty bound to see it through. I felt the same about GTA4, had to experience it all but it was and remains one of the weakest GTA entries.

Though it's not so much that RDR2 is weak, it's just focused on labouring and fleshing out stuff because presumably Rockstar focused on small details because the setting is so limited. I won't lie, the hunting, fishing etc I do find to be outright boring so I avoid that, but the missions need a breather for me. It's almost always Start Mission > Ride horse and listen to dialogue for 10 mins > Walk to required position > Plan goes wrong, shoot 12 guys > Ride to next mission with very, very little variation. I've heard later chapters are better, hopefully that's the case.

Dead Space 2 on XB1/360, Chapter 14, an insanely stressful bit where you're being chased by a regenerating enemy, this is where I got stuck on the PS3 version years back but *just* got past it, heart beating like mad and shaking all over!

Shouldn't be putting myself through this crap at my age! Am quite perplexed where I gave the game up back in 2012, literally just near the very end of the game and I just stopped. I could've even dropped the difficulty down (though I don't like doing that). Crazy.

Gah, end boss is a bast! Died like ten times so far, swarms of weird kiddie ghosts rip you apart if you don't keep moving, blasted that Marker three times, guessing four might do it. Sooooooo frustrating, only playing on Normal as well.

Damn, probably gonna take me ages, AAAARGH!

Tell a lie, just did it, straight after posting that. Dropped difficulty down, couldn't be arsed messing about with a cheap swarmy boss now I've got this far.

Anyhoo, watched Inception, not back to work til Thurs, no booze in a few days so a coupla voddies n blue Pepsis and back onto Dead Space 2 for New Game+.

Heaven. So much to upgrade and so much going back with utter confidence at how to mash up them necromorphs. Such a gulf in my skill two days back compared to today, I'm just rinsing the early bits in no time, feels so good, the game is fun to play and it's good using its body like this (*makes lurid sex groan*)

Oh god its grrrrreat! Same feeling as when you first finished Resi4 and you could go back and soup yasen up even more. Lovin it lovin it lovin it, plus some fun n easyish cheevz to acheev...and installing sequel tomoz.

                            Job's a good 'un.

It's ace now. I'm like this violent merchant in a bee suit, like a sinister David Dickinson* in a very depressing version of Red Dwarf without any of the cast.

I've got 25 slots in my Inv (a lot in this) and I'm killing so many alien Twiglets I've literally got too much ish, I'm dropping small medkits out my inventory just so I can pick up expensive ammo so I can sell it. And I'm making LOADS. Hence the Dave Dick compara*.

This is The Real Deal, folks, tis a bobby dazzler.

I've got both Dead Space games via Games with Gold on the One and always keep meaning to play them both.
