That’s poor planning isn’t it? It would be like giving Josh Trank the F4 reboot in the MCU. Oh yeah, Kinberg co-wrote that, too.

Officially John Ottman is the composer and editor on numerous “X-Men” films, unofficially his involvement was often been said to be more involved than that. Recently he revealed to Heat Vision that whilst finishing up work on “X-Men: Apocalypse,” his assistant and aspiring screenwriter Byron Burton came up with the idea for a script which […]

More information about what might have been if Fox stayed solo:
An aspiring scriptwriter wrote a script for Fear the Beast that would have followed Hank in the late 1980's looking into a stalked Inuit Village where a Beast-like creature is preying on them after Hank gave a sample of his blood to another scientist. The film was said to be evoking aspects of The Thing and would have cost $90m with Wolverine and Professor X appearing. The script required Kinberg's okay because it used core characters and Kinberg kicked it into touch for the time being as he was working on Dark Phoenix and didn't want to be influenced by it. By the time the work was done Disney was a thing and Kinberg had killed the franchise.

We know Fox and Marvel’s “Dark Phoenix” was a bomb for the studio, but with the film now closing up its theatrical run around the world – we have an idea of just how much it fizzled. “Dark Phoenix” played in 426 domestic cinemas this weekend, and its overseas release is also winding down with […]

The XCU curtain is almost completely down now with just New Mutants to go, Dark Phoenix hasn't just set the bar at being the worst performing X-Men movie, it's apparently performed worse than the crash and burn Fantastic Four reboot as well.

Over two years after the first trailer premiered, the new one arrives next week for the long-delayed but finally on the way “X-Men” spin-off “The New Mutants”. Word of the new trailer first came the other day in a surprising reveal from director Josh Boone. Boone helmed the film which was to originally open in […]

The New Mutants remains on target to finally see release in April and apparently Disney have opted to release the original cut of the film before Fox started delaying and tinkering it fearing the quality was too poor.

The upcoming “X-Men” spin-off film “New Mutants” was originally going to be a set around the time of the events of “X-Men: Apocalypse” according to a new report. Unlike previous “X-Men” films, this entry sees its five central mutant characters nowhere near Professor X’s School for Gifted Youngsters. Rather they’re in an asylum against their […]

Though standalone The New Mutants was originally intended to be set around the same time as X-Men Apocalypse in the 80's

20th Century Studios’ final “X-Men” film, “The New Mutants,” is tracking to debut with a pretty dismal $15-25 million opening weekend in early April according to long-range tracking forecasts. Box-Office Pro revealed the estimates, the debut would be a record low for the franchise which hit a nadir with a $33 million opening for “Dark […]

Not a surprise but long term forecasting for The New Mutants projects the film will bomb into the market with a dismal $15-$20m opening

Dark Phoenix should have been the end of it

You put your > sign in the wrong direction? Anyway, it was worth it for the fun, if not wonderful, First Class. They’re all kind of rubbish. Just some (Apocalypse for example) are way more rubbish than others.

Disney have been the last to flinch due to the coronavirus, but they’ve done so in a big way. The Mouse House has pulled their live-action “Mulan,” 20th Century Studios X-Men spin-off “The New Mutants,” and Searchlight’s horror film “Antlers” all from the schedule. The films were slated to open March 27th, April 3rd and […]

God himself must not want The New Mutants to release as Disney axes its planned release date due to the virus. Presumably it will be rescheduled later at which point an asteroid will target that date
