Of course it's an and option... It's the main difference MS has up it's sleeve over the competition.

I've been reading about how they'll support gaming on touch devices without a controller and it's a very interesting read. Not that I would want to play streamed titles that way but they're very much offering every option you can think of... Fully customisable.

One thing missing I'd love to see is a specialised official controller for tablets. I've got a surface go and I'd love a controller that wraps around it will it handles like the Switch. Missed opportunity there if it doesn't happen.

Some speculation continues of course that Xbox 4's Anaconda SKU will be more powerful than PS5. Redundant though and a misjudge from MS as it carries the incredibly high risk of a higher cost for the hardware (whilst not being able to deliver an improvement that is immediately obvious) and is undermined by the also rumoured weaker SKU that essentially recreates the current gen problem of having your baseline console dictate the conversation. Devs won't build up for the higher spec, they'll build down for the base model meaning most will design around the more popular PS5 and every 'better' XB4 top end port will be accompanied by reports of compromised base model versions. Given MS's plans for the platform releasing 2 SKU's still makes little sense.

I kind of agree with part of that but it isn't so clear cut. MS are delivering two consoles at different price points here with the beafier one being the console in this comparison. So with a base unit going on sale at the same time it's a little less risky if the more powerful unit is expensive.

That said, my view is they will have to at least aim to be on point at the same cost as the PS5 if they can, even if it means pricing the console at £30 more but packing in say 6 months of Xbox Live Ultimate and a free game. It's a difficult pitch but if they're £100 more in a direct match then I agree it'll be a hard sell.

PS5 and XB4 will have a very close architexture between themselves, and that architecture is not far off from a normal PC. Building a video game for two console SKUs is the same as building a game that will run on low- and high- end PCs, with the only difference that config options will be much more limited or will automatically pick up which console hardware they are running on.

I have grown a little tired of The Division 2, so I booted up my Xbox One X today. Quantum Break took my fancy in Game Pass, so I D/L’d it. I had to delete some HDD space though, which is annoying. That lead me into a purchase of the Seagate Backup Plus 10TB external HDD. I play my PS4 exclusively on the SteelSeries Pro Wireless now, so I also took the opportunity to purchase the SteelSeries 9X and the Dolby Atmos app.

I’m currently waiting on delivery, which is due in the next 30 minutes. I’m already nerding out about how I can use the extra USB ports to charge up everything without the console having anything unnecessary hanging out of it.
            Kept you waiting, huh?

Quantum Break is sadly not good. I really wanted to like it, but...no. The kernel of a good game is in there though.

I enjoyed it, but the TV show really cheapens it, despite having some really good actors in it

I see what you mean. The premise is pretty good, but actual gameplay is heavily lacking. The gunplay is especially terrible. It’s a shame as this could have been a stellar title had they had meaty combat.

Shadow of Mordor GOTY it is then!

The ‘TV show’ (or, really, live action cutscenes) sadly wouldn’t even pass muster as a low rent Syfy channel effort.

The idea of live action cutscenes is an interesting one, but unfortunately the execution is poor. Married to a banger of a game, it could still have worked (we’re all used to games delivering much worse writing and acting than films and TV for the most part, after all).

But unfortunately, after a strong opener, that was pretty lacking too. The ‘time powers’ aren’t much to do with time at all (generic force fields and freezing people, which is basically just common or garden magical superpowers), the gunplay is weak, and the puzzles inane - honestly if I play one more game which challenges me to get the power back on for an elevator I will scream.

                    It’s a real missed opportunity.

We take a big look at the current state of Xbox and ask ourselves, what exactly will Microsoft drop at the biggest gaming event of the year?

A rumour that Xbox 4 won't receive exclusives in the first year or two of its life with MS aiming to maintain XBO support for all titles.

If that's true its dead in the water.

Expecting the same from Sony actually.

Say the article had this update.

Update May 30, 2019: Due to some confusion over this paragraph, I've updated this section. We've heard that there's a possibility that, at least at launch, there will potentially be a period where new Xbox Game Studios titles launch for both Scarlett consoles, and original Xbox One consoles. This potentially pertains to the completion of Game Core, which is a development environment that won't be coming to the older Xbox consoles, as it's tied to the development of Windows Core OS. The finer details on this are very scant, so take it with a pinch of salt.
                            Well DUH.

Like I said before, I hoping to see Halo 6 and Forza 8 running on the One X and out this year and then for hugly expanding versions ready for thew lauch of the XBox II. Hopfully if you buy the game you get the upgraded version for free, just like with the games on One and One X.

                              Can't wait for E3.
