A rumour that Microsoft is currently working to sign off three more studio acquisitions in time for an E3 announcement. The studios would be:
Asobo Studio
A Plague Tale: Innocence, ReCore, Disneyland Adventures
Relic Entertainment
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, Company of Heroes 2, The Outfit
IO Interactive
Hitman, Kane and Lynch, Freedom Fighters

I can't help but feel twitchy when MS proudly proclaims they are buying studios. It feels like weaponizing game studios. It can probably only lead to games made by these studios being exclusive to XBOX. MS Can say they are supporting cross play all they want, but if they then flip the bird to Sony for wanting games from IO Interactive then it just looks bad.

This isn't a Sony/Microsoft rivalry issue though. Sony have done as much of this (if not more) in the past; weren't they really guilty of it in the PS1/Saturn era? My concern was that if EA, Activision or MS & Sony for that matter begin hoovering up studios, they will only prioritise the games that will make them money from these studios and leave unique games on the cutting room floor. Bioware for example was an RPG making company with single player in mind and yet EA forced a Live Service ****brick on them. Live service games with continued revenue are all the rage and any studio with visions of a single player experience simply won't see the kind of funding needed to produce the game properly. If you think this doesn't happen take a look at EA and its handling of any studio they bought. But EA is making money and MS and whoever else is chasing the same rainbow. That's not good for the industry and its not good for us as players.

Seems to me like people are getting far to much hang up on games not coming out on THEIR preferred platform. Well that’s never going to change, you pays your money you makes your choice on platform, you want God of War buy PlayStation, want Mario buy Nintendo etc.
