I was amazed at the thought of being able to eat solitary grains of rice, but when I went to Japan, most the rice I was served was sticky rice, rather than what we have here, plus everyone shovels it in from 1cm away, rather than transporting solitary grains from the table to your mouth. Those cheating bastards!

SIDE NOTE:
A man goes to the doctors and explains that his penis has started to go orange.
The doctor checks there's no jaundice and asks if the man handles any chemicals at work.
The man replies "That can't be the problem, because I don't work."
The doctor asks "Then what do you do all day?"
"I watch porn and eat Wotsits."

Can't believe this is coming to the switch, i have known about ass detective due to the manga popping up on amazon but it seems there's gonna be a switch game coming too. Think phoenix wright but the main character has an ass for a face sadly even with furigana over the kanji it's a little beyond my skill level, the chances of this ever getting english is zero there's no way i could see this fly in the west lol.

Yeah, I'm not too fussed with the settlements stuff, but the new building mechanics and items are way better.
Im always struck by how good looking this game is now too, at least on next gen. There is almost too much to take in at times.

Although it's good they're still supporting it, I think it's important to remember that the game and developer made a ****-ton of money off promising a game which didn't deliver. If the game hadn't been an overwhelming financial success, this wouldn't be happening.

I would love to play it, based on what it is, but I still don't know if I'm comfortable giving the developer any money, because I don't want that practice to flourish & persist. I don't want it to be seen as the done thing.

I don't think it will happen again. Clearly Hello Games actually give a **** about the product and the players.
If you look at Cyberpunk as another example, they've done the bare minimum with it and they'll cut and run when they get chance.

The way I saw it, Hello Games were a tiny Indie company making little games like Joe Danger, which I love, but it's not GOAT material.

All of a sudden, people see the potential of No Man's Sky from the promo stuff and the hype machine went nuts.
What was our thread called? Something like "HAS to be seen!!1!"
One guy paid a fortune for a pre-release copy, remember that?

The biggest issue was Sean Murray not tempering expectations, thus speeding up that hype train.
However, when did you last hear someone say "Nah, tone it down, our game isn't going to be anywhere near as good as you're suggesting"?

The fact he stopped doing interviews for 2 years and got death threats afterwards is insane.
I don't get how people get so angry about games.
"Best taste yet!" claims on a fizzy drink doesn't illicit death threats! You just drink something else.

Murray: “I remember getting a death threat about the fact that there were butterflies in our original trailer, and you could see them as you walked past them, but there weren’t any butterflies in the launch game. I remember thinking to myself: ‘Maybe when you’re sending a death threat about butterflies in a game, you might be the bad guy.’”

How much was it Hello Games rushing the product out and how much was it Sony pushing them to release it?

We've got another thread about the abuse of developers and whether we should support the games they make or protest buying them, yet here we have a developer who has been working hard for years to make what they initially wanted and have, quite honestly exceeded the original brief. It's worth playing in PSVR alone for the experience.

Although I agree with voting with your wallet and understand your reasons for avoiding NMS, I think, in this case, you're cutting your nose to spite your face.

Murray and Hello Games coded a near-infinite universe and survived a harassment ordeal. For two years, they’ve stuck by the game that put them on the map – and led to death threats

Whatever about NMS, this is a recurring theme that, oddly, lots of gamers never learn from. You will only ever see what a game is really like when it's actually released. Everything else is either hype or merely a statement of intent, a target. And many games miss their target by a wide margin. At least in this particular case, they do seem to have really worked to make it something much better than what was released.

Isn't that excusing the problem, though? Like saying "oh publishers always lie, why do you still believe them"? It's still not okay for them to do that, and I don't think it's the audience's fault for believing them. I didn't get NMS on launch because I knew, from experience, that it would never live up to that hype, but I'm a semi-jaded long-time videogames fan. I've been around the block plenty of times. For some people it was their first rodeo.

I just don't think it's okay for a developer to say their game will do things that it doesn't do, and only put them in later if the game's a big financial success. I also don't think that's a controversial thing to say. Even if it's standard practice, it's not a good thing, surely?

This doesn't excuse death threats and all that crap, obviously. That should go without saying. I share QualityChimp's point in that I don't understand that at all.

Video game publisher THQ Nordic says it will celebrate its 10th anniversary by announcing six new games, including new …

On 17th September THQ Nordic has said it will do a special 10th Anniversary live stream where it will reveal 6 new titles which will see popular franchises revived. Looking at the list of franchises they own it's hard to get excited at the potential in that but they do own:

-Full Spectrum Warrior
-Stuntman
-Second Sight
-Alone in the Dark

So... maybe?

Their worst mistake was to go multi-platform, from base XB1 all the way up to RTX PC. That must have been waaaay too much of a spread. They should have had the whole team perfecting the PC version before trickling it down to the console ports.

I purposely didn't get swallowed up in any pre-release hype at all. All I had to go off of was that gameplay demo from 2018, so when I finally got to play I was very happy with it. I didn't encounter game-breaking bugs, however, immersion-breaking ones were everywhere.

That would be incredible. I've really enjoyed Wreckfest after receiving it from PS+. It plays really well. A new Stuntman from that team would just be such a beautiful thing.

Aw, I've gone and got all hyped for it now, and I bet it's not even what they're actually working on
