    Pirates of the Caribbean VI

Though the eventual box-office it took in was a steep decline from the previous entry, last year’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” still managed a sizeable $795 million global box-office haul in spite of scathing reviews. So talk of a sixth entry is not too surprising as Omega Underground reports that […]

Despite the box office drop off the fifth film suffered, plans are moving forward for another entry in the franchise. One of the fifth films two directors will be helming the sequel with filming rumoured to be commencing once Maleficent 2 wraps up. The fifth film ended with a post credit stinger that suggested the sixth entry would be primarily focused on reuniting Sparrow, Will and Elizabeth with a resurrected Davey Jones

“Deadpool,” “Life” and “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have reportedly had early discussions with Disney Pictures to discuss a potential reboot of the studio’s multi-billion dollar “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. No deal is yet closed however as they’re still in very early talks. Last year’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell […]

The writers of Deadpool, Zombieland and Life are said to be taking a look at rebooting the entire Pirates franchise. Presumably the post-credits sequence of Pirates V will go unmentioned and a fresh take be taken but it's unknown if that rules out Depp appearing in some capacity.

Sean Bailey has served as president of production at The Walt Disney Studios since 2010, helping to steer the Mouse House to new highs. Bailey helped push the studio towards a smaller slate, but one made up entirely of major tentpoles which have seen it become what is easily the biggest player in town in […]

In demand “Deadpool” and “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have reportedly jumped ship from the planned sixth entry in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. Deadline reports that according to Disney insiders the pair of scribes are off the project and the decision now comes down to either hiring another scribe or ending […]

The Deadpool writers have now abandoned the project, Disney seems to now be deciding whether to hire new writers or to end the franchise for good.

Following the departure of “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick earlier this year, it looks like Disney’s planned reboot of the “Pirates of the Carribean” franchise may be getting a familiar face. Discussing Film reports that “The Mask of Zorro,” “Shrek,” “Aladdin” and “The Lone Ranger” scribe Terry Rossio, who has the largest screenplay […]

              And already they're re-attempting it

The writer of several large movies, but key focus being on his work on Pirate's 1-4, has been brought back onboard. Personally, I don't see the point in rebooting it. Either make a sixth film with Depp or don't bother, he may have all sorts going on but it doesn't seem to be stopping him making films with the other studios.

A new rumor has cropped up claiming that former “Doctor Who” star turned “Jumanji” and “Avengers” actress Karen Gillan is being rumored as a potential lead for the next “Pirates of the Caribbean” feature. Reports emerged in 2018 suggesting the studio would reboot the blockbuster franchise and it wasn’t clear what that meant for Johnny […]

Karen Gillan is reported to be lining up for one of the lead roles in the next Pirate's movie. The film is currently still on course to be a full reboot focused on the character Redd from the ride.

This sounds better than more of the played-out Jack Sparrow.

After months of rumors, it is now official – Margot Robbie is attached to star in a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” film at Disney Pictures. “Birds of Prey” and “Bumblebee” writer Christina Hodson will pen the script for the female-fronted adventure which isn’t a sequel, spin-off or reboot – rather a “wholly original story […]

Christina Hodgson, writer of Birds of Prey and Bumblebee, will write the sixth film and Margot Robbie is confirmed to be playing the lead character and somewhat confusingly it turns out that Disney now has two films in the works, one a reboot and this an 'original' disconnected entry both vying for release first.

Isn't it true that pirates bucks the trend for 'sea based' movies. I think they basically all bomb, like movies set on Mars.

Kinda; they were very popular at one point, then hit a downward trend, and a big budget effort to bring them back (Cutthroat Island) was one of Hollywood's biggest ever flops.

I think it's sensible to have a go with this, because the superhero movie wave has to slow down eventually. I don't think it'll ever crash in the way that detractors want, but studios are wise to try and spearhead whatever the next genre will be, as if they can get the jump on it, they'll be onto a winner.

Seems weird to have two films in the go at once, especially a reboot when they don't have the one popular character in it and it's way too soon as well. These feel oddly desperate considering Disney far from needs these

Craig Mazin Teases Sixth "Pirates" Script - Dark Horizons
The writer of Chernobyl and the tv version of The Last of Us has confirmed that he has co-written a script for Pirates of the Caribbean VI with the writer of the first four films. He says that they believed the script to be too weird for the mouse house to accept but Disney has bought it from them and they are now waiting for the strikes to end to move forward.
