The stand-out are potentially Alien and Aliens, but I'm probably still going for Galaxy Quest.

Thought she played a great part in Holes too, but then that's just an all-round great kids' movie.

Although I think Alien is the better film, I'm going to go with Aliens due to how much Weaver drives that movie. She is brilliant in it. But lots of great choices. She's great in Galaxy Quest, Ghostbusters and a whole bunch more.

I think Aliens, for the same reason as DT.
And, even though I loved Avatar, I found Sigourney's role and acting quite cheesy.

I went for Aliens too. To me she is Ripley, and in Aliens she was at her peak.

Do you know what, I'd go Aliens as well. The thing about the original movie is that as iconic as the window dressing of the sci-fi setting and details etc are they hang over a film that is fundamentally no different than traditional horror movies and Weaver is a spin on the hunted female lead that usually comes with those films.

In the sequel though the entire genre shift means that she has to play the scared victim but at the same time convince us of an entire motherly subplot with Newt that's popped up since the original and at the same time convince us that she can be equally petrified yet bad ass to stand her ground against the marines and the odds she now faces. It's Weaver's strength that Ripley never comes into question in any scene in that film. Alien 3 comes close in many ways but it's held back by the film not being as strong as the second entry whereas Resurrection goes massively the wrong way with its super human Ripley approach.

Man I wish Alien 5 had happened instead of Covenant. She deserved the chance to send off Ripley well.

I really don't want to vote Aliens again, but she really is vital to that film.

She's cute in Ghostbusters and does her Gatekeeper role convincingly, but Ripley in Aliens is so multifaceted.

PTSD sufferer (nightmares), grieving mother (in the long cut, seeing her aged daughter's photo), incredulous worker drone (the company trying to charge her for destroying the ship), begrudging specialist, natural leader ('Ripley! You blew the trans-axle, you're just grinding metal!'), protective mother and ultimately a survivor badass.

Such a great film and such a perfect performance.
