Critics Club II: 32 - Bill Paxton

Diving on in with the next vote, we reach another actor who often appeared in supporting roles but was a consistent fave in any capacity:

    Bill Paxton

Vote for the movie you feel is their best whilst also discussing their other work, your reasons for voting and thoughts on what is their weakest.

Some will have very long lists so some trimming will be required to focus on the key entries but broadly the main selection will be available each time.

His turn as Private Hudson gets my vote. He's just perfect in the role. Every line he speaks is gold and his goof-off character has some depth and integrity too.

I haven't seen Aliens in years because I killed it by over-watching. Hoping I can go back one day and enjoy it again.

He was always one of my favourite supporting actors, and it was a real shame he died before he was meant to. But despite great performances in True Lies, Apollo 13, Predator 2 and Tombstone, it has to be Aliens.

I know they weren't listed up there, but he's also in Terminator and Commando, so he cameoed in a few Arnie flicks, not just True Lies!
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

The only man to have been killed on-screen by an Alien, Predator and a Terminator.

I mean, it's going to be Hicks hudson, isn't it? Game over.
He fit the role so perfectly and he's quite a complex character, showing a variety of emotions throughout Aliens.
He goes our screaming, but he's fighting to the very end.

Everybody needs to have a secondary vote!

His turn in Predator 2 is also great, but less deep.
His True Lies character is a little cartoony and I didn't like seeing one of my faves getting walked all over.
He's ruthless in Near Dark, but doesn't get much screen time.

My second vote is actually a relatively unknown film, but it's great seeing Paxton as the main character and not a support role.
It's a pretty cool sci-fi flick and a lot of fun!

It was hard to decide on this one because Bill was a constantly good performer in all his roles.
But I went for Edge of Tomorrow, no one else could have done that part because they don't have the voice to go with the accent, he was perfect for it.
