Critics Club II: 35 - Harrison Ford

Voting for fortune and glory, this time it's...

    Harrison Ford

Vote for the movie you feel is their best whilst also discussing their other work, your reasons for voting and thoughts on what is their weakest.

Some will have very long lists so some trimming will be required to focus on the key entries but broadly the main selection will be available each time.

OOooooohhhh. Now this is tough... as Indiana Jones, Han solo or James Marshall

(I'm a huge fan of Air force One, God knows why.)

Indiana Jones and Han Solo are the roles which Ford really made his own. He had such a deep impact on both, and I think it’s why the idea of someone else playing those characters still doesn’t seem fully credible.

I do like Witness though. That’s a really good film.

For me, Indy will be the hardest role to recast. Han is a pretty straight forward rogue type, Solo just got it wrong. Indy though, it's hard to explain and may just come down to the amount of screen time being greater but every single facet is Harrison Ford. Recasting that role will be a nightmare without it feeling like the countless cash ins there's been. Indy for me just is his best role and his ability to carry off the humour, drama and action so utterly effortlessly is just masterclass in the character type stuff. Balancing the quality of the films against that makes it a two horse race, Raiders of Crusade but whilst Raiders understandably is loved by many I feel Crusade offers the better cross section of matching the films quality with Ford's range.

It was surprising though that 1 - he's not done as many films as a I thought and 2 - There's a hell of a run of quality in there.

Not many actors could pull off Indy, Solo and Deckerd and be so utterly convincing and believable as each.

I really like him playing these characters ... not so much the regular Joes.

Last Crusade for me. Infinitely watchable.

I once worked with a guy who had never seen a Harrison Ford Movie...not one!

I must be the only one here who doesn't find him or his movies very enjoyable.
