Critics Club II: 38 - John Lithgow

Time for another actor who's so often an eye draw in a movie:

    John Lithgow

It must feel like Christmas 2!

Vote for the movie you feel is their best whilst also discussing their other work, your reasons for voting and thoughts on what is their weakest.

Some will have very long lists so some trimming will be required to focus on the key entries but broadly the main selection will be available each time.

    Probably Cliffhanger.

I do like him in Santa Claus too.

A bit of a tough one for me as him playing Churchill in The Queen immediately came to mind but its a series not a film...

Will have to have a think. For me I grew up watching him give a rather moving at times performance in Bigfoot and the Hendersons as well as Zeek (sp?) in Santa Claus the Movie (one of my Christmas films as a child) where he has a really grim ending that gave me nightmares!

Wow, I think I saw Distant Thunder as a kid and completely forgot about it appart from the name (looked up trailer on youtube), must see that again

Santa Claus The Movie defined him for me for my childhood. Cliffhanger solidified that position.
Then we had 3rd Rock from the Sun and everything changed.

I watched Daddy's Home 2 last night and actually enjoyed it a lot.

Nope, can't remember the point I had.

Kinda the same point I think I was trying to make but didn't!

I'm gonna go for Santa Claus the Movie.

I had to go with Santa Claus too, just because when I think of him, I immediately think of his "f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fOR FREEEEEE?!?!!" line when I see his face.

I like him in Cliffhanger but he absolutely chews scenes up in Santa Claus The Movie, it suits him to an absolute tee and I don't think I've ever seen him in something and disliked him. Glad he's still working, Pet Semetary next

3rd Rock from the Sun mainly, but in this poll, Cliffhanger, although I laughed at the Hollywood cliché that he was British.
