    Lost: Season 01
Yes, finally we pushed on and got back into it and finished the first season. Had to settle into the slow burn pace again but the back end of the season is good for character plots, I'd also forgotten how much I love the scoring in the show. It has dry spells but when it sings it still really shows how damned strong the show was at times too.

I watched the first couple of episodes of True Detective Season 3. Wasn't even sure I'd bother after the terrible second season but the first two eps of this one are pretty intriguing. It is set over three time periods and gives us quite some crucial information which the earliest time period doesn't have, which is interesting. I'm hoping it doesn't go bad but the first couple of eps were really good.

I was about to ask if anyone else was giving this a shot - I've enjoyed the first two eps too.

That's what's so annoying with the show in retrospect.
Some of the best television I've ever seen, wrapped in some of the worst cases of flim-flam stalling, unfinished ideas and procrastination.

Am I right in thinking the end of S1 is where they find the hatch?

    Start of S2 was amazing!

It was? All I remember is that they spent about three episodes or so going nowhere because they shifted to side stories or new characters so any sense of progression was gone. About five eps into season 2 I declared myself out and have no regrets.

    Yeah, it was awesome!

Remember this was from a time pre-binge watching and people torrenting episodes to keep up with America.

    The start was this:

A man wakes up from his bunk bed and immediately presses a few keys on what appears to be a late 1970s-era computer. He then gets dressed, and begins his day as the camera moves about the surrounding rooms, which contain an assortment of objects from the 1960s to the present. He puts on some music, begins an exercise routine, has a shower, makes himself some breakfast, and injects himself with a vaccine. He is interrupted by an explosion, spurring the man to arm himself before using a telescope-and-mirror system. His gaze reveals the faces of Jack Shephard (Matthew Fox) and John Locke (Terry O'Quinn) standing around the now-open Hatch shaft.

    Punisher season 2.

Much more punishing than last season I feel

The Lost S1 finale is where Locke, Jack, Hurley and Kate blow the hatch open and The Others sink the raft and take Walt. It's the middle of the season where things slip into padding but as soon as it gets to Boone and Locke looking for the plane it's in a good gear. We're going to try and keep momentum going so have lined up S2, I remember it being frustrating as it lines up the new characters and it also slumping hard for a while but ultimately paying off that time. I think it'll flow better watched at our own pace, it's still interesting to see how the end stacks with the early seasons. S1 doesn't really contain anything that's set up and not ultimately paid off, I think it'll be S2 and S3's more muddled runs that things at times make less sense but I'm looking forward to getting to the last third of S3, show was bloody gold after that.
