I want a re-edit where the kid runs through airport security and gets shredded by gunfire for being a terrorist risk.

It just makes less sense each time I'm subjected to it.

Also, I get in trouble suggesting if Emma Thompson wasn't snooping around, she wouldn't have found out Alan Rickman was trying to have had an affair, he'd have banged the office hottie and she'd be non-the-wiser other than he'd have a skip in his step.
He should've said "It was for a client/worker of the year" or "the clasp broke".

Nothing will ever top the cringe factor of Colin and his American trip

In preparation for the new one, we rewatched The Last Jedi today. Easy to see why it’s the divisive one - it is one that challenges Star Wars pretty much from start to finish and throws some cold water on some stuff that has always been there in the movies but people don’t necessarily want to see. Some of the movie just doesn’t land for me, especially the humour, and the pacing is very unusual. But the stuff that works for me, works really well. I think Luke is brilliant and a perfect reading of the character we see in the first trilogy, everything with Rey and Ren is fantastic (Adam Driver plays that character beautifully) and some of the sequences and visuals bring new things to Star Wars even when around familiar elements - which are pretty much always subverted in the movie. It’s the most thematically rich Star Wars movie and one that has a lot to say. And I really like it for all of that.

Could have done without the leprechaun in the casino.

Got the new one at the weekend. Hoping I’ll enjoy it.

I'm probably going to be sent to the outer reaches of the galaxy for this but despite being a big sci-fi fan, particularly, films I can't treat any of the Star Wars franchise as anything but kid level entertainment. I actively hate the third original one with the Ewoks.

Having said that I saw Rogue One on Freeview a week or so ago for the first time and actually surprised myself by enjoying it more than I expected. Less of the whimsy, the muppets, unfunny bickering camp robots and sidelining most of the Jedi crap suited me much more.

I stand with you! It’s all cashcow bullcrap for morons who wouldn’t know a proper sci-fi if it smashed all their teeth out. Cringeworthy pap!

Horrible film rammed with sexist tropes on both sides.

                    Green Book
Didn't know what to expect with this film. Didn't even know the plot, but it's a great film. Viggo is brilliant as usual as are all the supporting cast and the film balances ease of watching with tight emotional scenes. I also had no idea is was directed by the Dumb and Dumber director! A complete switch of type.

                      Star Wars 9

Lovely stuff. Fallenangel and peebsy are right. It’s all goofy nonsense and I don’t understand why people get so anal about Star Wars like it’s something sacred. There were a few times I snorted thinking the characters were being sarcastic but they weren’t. It was just the script. I liked the emperor. He was quite scary.

                      Jumanji 2

Do we have a general film news thread? I don’t know so I’m posting in here because this is interesting. Slightly. Cats is getting an update to its effects while still showing in cinemas. This, ladies and gentlemen, means films have now followed games and are being patched.

Reminds me actually of an old moment in time. Many years ago, I got to go to an early press screening of Attack of the Clones. One line jumped out because it was a little different to what was in the trailers. When I saw the movie on release, that line was different yet again and I was pretty sure another line was different too although internet nerds assured me that couldn’t be the case. When I got some book later (probably the art book), written down was the line I originally heard, at least showing I hadn’t gone crazy. But that meant that in about a week between that screening and release, there were at least two very minor changes.

So now years later, we’re into movies being patched.

Watched Cold War and It's A Wonderful Life yesterday. Cold War has been on my radar for a while and I clocked it's free with Prime Video. Beautiful film in every way. It's a Wonderful Life is an obvious choice but special as my granddad introduced me to it when I was little ... so it has an extra layer of magic on top.

I really wasn't sure were to put this, so feel free to move it. It's a bit of a talking point.

Turns out that Cats is full of CGI **** ups you'd only see in videogames. Like feet glitching through the floor and furless unrendered cats. They are releasing a redone version but it begs the question how it could be released in this mess in the first place.

I have been processing this movie for the last 24 hours trying to understand anything as terrifying and visceral a trainwreck as Cats. You have to see Cats. You must witness the hubris of director Tom Hooper. You must witness the hubris of Hollywood. The hubris of these performers. You have to sit in that […]

                                Rise of Skywalker.

Distinctly average. Didn't feel like a fitting end to the latest trilogy or a "nine film saga" or "three, three act plays".

Just a bit dull and uninspiring.

Don't get me wrong it looked gorgeous and there were some laughs and I welled up once but nowhere near the impact of TFA or TLJ (for different reasons).
